I have a question. I know the SR20 in the B15 Sentra SE revs to 6750 rpms.. if i'm not mistaken the classics went to 7500?

What's was difference in these lasts SR20 powered cars?

They have roller rockers...and the B15 SR20's are the last step in killing a sweet azz engine! IMHO..:(

The B13 had it goin on. The B14 got its nutz snipped, the 98 got its nutz removed.and the B15..well..somebody in the design department must have had a kid.*** they murdered the engine and threw on 2 more doors..:)

Mostly Correct. I wouldn't shy away from a 98 engine. Just swap in a pre 95 intake cam. Stiletto made 140 whp on a 98 with very resonable mods.

This is true.I was kinda throwing the package around the motor in too...:D

And dont get me wrong.Im not slamming any of the SR20 powered cars, no matter what year...Im just stating what Nissan did them.

If were talking package then this is how it goes IMHO
91-94 VLSD and 7500rpm and lighter weight
95-97 VSLD and 7200rpm and 75 pounds (or so? IIRC) (also less power in reality but not specs.
98-99 No-VSLD
2000+ Some with VSLD and 6750rpm and 5 more horsepower and a more weight then the previos

All problems are fixable with mods on the pre 99 cars. 2000+ is not as easy because of no easy ecu swap and the engine is not going to rev as high with the stock valvetrain.

i wouldn't bad mouth nissan for lowering the performance edge in the 98-99 sr20 cars. like steve said, swap in a 91-93 sr20 cam and wammo! we make more than the b13's made w/ their own cam! on the other hand, we did get jipped on the almost required VLSD. again, like steve stated, w/ my simple breathing mods i made 140 whp in my 99 SEL (considered the weakest of the sr20's).

Same principal applies to the VSLD. Get the new Nismo one for the non-vsld tranny and you have a better LSD then any sr20 nissan ever from the factory.

this is very true..all can be fixed..I have a 91 cam right now, and 96 G20 ecu..:D Both problems solved in the 95-97 SE-R

What's an SEL? Never seen this badge on a Nissan.

It's a 99 Sentra SE Limited Edition. Has carbon on some places and smoke/platnium(sp?) rims.

Isn't there more emissions crap to deal with on the 98+ SR20's? I know there is more on the intake manifold on them vs. my '97 SE-R.

yep. but if you get lucky and drive in a state that isn't as anal retentive as cali, then you can forego the pleasantries and turn your sr20 into the ozone depleting beast it was meant to be! :D

This is what I know , roller rockers a taller valvecover because of the roller rockers , weak valve springs , no main bearing cradle....

Thing is P11 G20's with RR SR20DE's, can rev up to 7000-7200rpm.

Im currently looking for a P11 owner in Montreal so I can test out his ecu in my car, if this works out, I'll probably try and find one in a scrap yard :)

The 2000 bottom end was the best made. It has 4 counter weights on the crank, and lighter pistons, revised rings. Pre-2000 have 8 counter weights on the crank, signifigantly increasing the weight. A 2000 crank with 10:1 pistons and a high-port head sr20 would be the best. IMO the 94-99 motors blow. Nothing really redeemable. Crap cams, head, manifold. pre-93 have high miles, worn rings.
Don't brag about your shitty 94+ motors. Even with the 91 intake cam. That 1 hp you have over a high port can't help the extra 200-300 pounds the chassis gained. And then there's the multi-link rear BEAM. Buy a classic.

The red line on the 2000+ sr20de has nothing to do with the valve train. It's all about emmisions.
