i know that the forum condemns racing on the street, but its a tech question so....
im driving. sure enough i see some guy that is driving a 07 se-r. he is the one rev happy at me, saying we basically have the same car. so i say w/e, just to see. i say only up to 50, as that is the speed limit.
so i brake+gas the auto to launch.
only thing is, that i launch maybe 5 feet ahead, but then the rpms just drop, and im bogging back down to 1500, when i originally launched at 2250 or so. it also does this sometimes when im driving normal from a dead stop. i'll floor it, and the car wont go any faster. rpms will drop, the trans will shift from 1st to 3rd, and then keeps the car in 3rd gear and the car will struggle till it reaches 2600, then a little bit faster, but still unusually slowly will go to red line, even though the pedal is to the floor, and i put the trans from 'D' into '2'
is that normal? i dont think it is, since when i had on the heavy stock rims, i could squeal the tires, and launch out hard. i know that when i was on the stock rims, and no muffler on the stock exhaust, i had absolutly no problem launching out hard. hell, i out launched a lot of my friends.
could it be the rear o2 sensor that has been out for nearly a year an a half? or is it something mroe serious. i can change out the maf, but i just cleaned it recently, so idk. i also heard a huge loud knock noise after i cleaned out the TB, but it never did it again. i jsut thought it was my suspention, since the rear has been slowly going out since last year.
cliff notes.
i launch or come from a stop
the car goes from 1st into 3rd
car bogs and goes slow as hell
pedal is on the floor and the trans still doesnt change gears
struggles up to 2600, then will go a lot faster
but its still a crazily amount slower than normal
heard a loud knock from the car after cleaning the maf and the TB with carb cleaner
think the knock is from the rear suspention going out
knock has happened a lot in the cold.
oil shows no from of metal or anything. still is rather clean.
ive done all this maintance so far:
spark plugs
oil and filter
tire rotation
coolant flush
transmission flush
ait filter
starter
brakes and dot 3 fluid
maybe problem is the rear o2 sensor, as that is all the obd-II reader picks up.
