I was wondering why my shifter was so vague and imprecise, until I took it apart this evening.

Not sure what caused it to deform/melt like that, but I know other plastic pieces fell out when I pulled it from the car. I replaced it with a B&M short shifter ftw!!

DAMN! You must be hammering on that b!tch while you are autoXing. Looks like you need a SS with a steel fulcrum.

I might do this, because I got a cosmoracing once off ebay and we tried to put it on during auto-manual swap but...what would cause a shortshifter to be really stiff to move when installed? It was REAL stiff to move around. Thought maybe my bud had overtightened the bolt that goes through the bearings on the bottom.

BTW we put ES shifter bushing on near the tranny..

your linkage is bolted on backwards.. i did the same thing when i did my clutch job for the first time. jacked the car up and sure enough it was cockeyed..

Make sure you grease the linkage where the bolt goes through as well as the ball.

Gotcha, thanks a lot guys :biggthump

also, the ball ends up being the pivot point for ur shifting, like a sea-saw. the longer side A is(shifter), the more u have to move it for side B(linkage) to travel the same distance. Making the pivot point closer to the shifter means that the same distance needed to change a gear will be shortened, hence making your shifts quicker.

What is the measurement (stock) from the linkage at the bottom of the shifter to where the ball sits? How many inches?

This cosmoracing ebay one I have (still in box lol) is 3 1/4" center to center.
