: Advice on SR20 and Nitrous
tearoff guy 09-18-2007, 12:18 AM looking to learn on my first throttle in a bottle.... I got my first Nx 2000 back in Feb and have enjoyed it so far but I want a bit more I want to make it dependable and effective,,, motor is all stock and it's riding on 170,000 mi ,, runs great ,,, things I've got now are 1ST F1 stage 2 racing clutch/flywheel kit,, Zex dry shot kit. I'm looking for a header and intake combo for a new exaust system ( let'er breath ) ... is there anything I need to be on top of? ... if you guys can shed some light on this would be a savior! :biggthump
Johnny wangwang 09-18-2007, 01:20 AM Ill have a header for you in about a month or less if you can wait that long.
-With that dry shot only run the 55 pills. If I were you I would run the 65shot fuel pill just to be on the safe side.
-Make sure that you have premium fuel in the car when you spray. None of that 87 stuff...
-make sure your plugs are a step colder (BKR7E's). And after the first time you spray take some time to pull the plugs and examine them for anything abnormal.
-Also if you have that kit and dont have a bottle warmer dont even spray it yet. If you do youll be posting up another thread titled "my 55 shot feels like a 10shot". Its REAAAAAALLLLLY important for you to have that bottle press up to at least 1000psi. If its not there then your just wasting nitrous.
-also get a bottle gauge so you can see when its heated up. Wrap the bottle in a towel also so it doesnt take as long to heat up.
-look around for the cheapest places to buy nitrous by the pound now. So you know where to get the hookup.
All in all thats about it. I loved my Zex 55 shot when I had it on the car. That power is just plain INSTANT fun!

hell yeah I can wait on that header,,, it'll be Nov. before I'm ready to do the juice... thanks for the info.. and I'll probably hit ya up again just before I tackle the project ,,, when your ready to let go of that header just pm-- me .... I have been reading up on the juice but it's so different then what I'm used to,, in my family the ol saying is if you need a bottle to go faster ,,, you did'nt buid it big enough... but thats with cubic inches though!!! ..
when I start this I'll keep a log of everything I do that way if I messed up somewhere it'll help fix it before I blow it... as far as fuel goes I would'nt run anything less than 93 octane anyway... but when I get ready to juice is I my stop in the gas stop and pump a few gallons of 100 octane before playing.. and I have a uncle just down in Georgia that said he will fill my bottle up for free when I need it.... only bad thing is it's about a 3 hr drive ,, I don't plan on spraying ever single time I come off the line like some guys do.... effective and dependable is what I want.... the miles on the motor will be ok for awhile right??? and you said NGK BKR7E is cold enough? is that the only plug I should run? ... thanks Mr Wangwang :biggthump
Fatonsr20 09-18-2007, 07:42 PM i know a kid whos using a 75-100 shot on a stock sr20 motor with H/I/E...probly not the safest huh?
ashtonsnissannx 09-18-2007, 08:24 PM trust me as long is a wet shot he should be fine with the intake, header, exhaust, a good properly setup 100 shot will do wonders to the sr20 with really no worries, just check the plugs after the first couple shots then check them after each bottle use, just a little more precuations go into using nitrous. i installed a nos wet 75shot on my brothers svt focus with intake and exhaust and dang that thing pulled hard as hell, his stock clutch would start to slip a little it hit soo hard. I could only imagine on a lighter car and a stronger engine internally like the sr20

Due to the fact that Calum now does ECU's for us. You can honestly get some 333's or 370cc injectors and pay him to make you a program for them and a bigger maf(the nitrous n a dry shot isnt metered by the maf but a bigger one is always nice). That way you can run that dry shot all day and up the shot with no issues.
The great thing about a 50 shot is you can spray it right off the line. Thats how your going your get your best times...Launch it and right when it bogs FLOOR IT! I pulled off a 1.9 60ft on shitty street tires with that method and it probably wouldve been a 9.1-9.0 1/8th mile run had my bottle not been on E.
tearoff guy 09-20-2007, 04:49 PM cool ,,, Johnny WANGwang,,,,, I'm real interested in upgrading my injectors..
Thanks Eggman I'll check that site out now while I'm waiting on my car :D
ok I'm back,,,,, yeah Eggman I was reading up on that thread and I think I understand it,,,, but I guess I just need to see to really know what all that means,,,, from what I understand I will be safe with a 50 shot and only running the right plug and retarding my timing a little bit... I'll be back again .....
THANKS GUYS FOR THE INFO,,,,,, I'm sure I'll get it one of these days!!! I have time before I start on it...
endless.sr20 10-19-2007, 12:37 AM Can I hi-jack the thread with a few questions...?
Still practically a newbie with this, so please spare me the patience... I have a stock P11 sr20de installed on B13 with nothing more than a I/H/E upgrade... which one would be safer... a 50 shot wet or dry? anything that needs to be upgraded prior to installation? Read from the sticky that a 50 shot dry doesnt need that much upgrade than a step cold plugs?
anything else? thanks
tearoff guy 10-20-2007, 01:25 AM I'm getting ready for my Dry shot this Nov..doing the clutch/flywheel kit at the same time ,, staying with the 50 ,, I think I need to understand the NOS before I go crazy.. would love to have a progressive control setup..
all your questions can be answered in the NOS thread,, thats got great info

nO PrEssUrE 10-27-2007, 12:02 PM oh oh oh ok .. i found this product on the same website an i start readin how it works ... so here is the what i need besides a good nitrous system i get it ...
ime Based Progressive Nitrous Controller (713)
Time Based Progressive Nitrous Controller. This controller will pulse your solenoid(s) to ramp the power from low to high so traction can be maximized. Its fully adjustable:
Starting power 0-100%
Ending power 0-100%
Time to Max Power 0-9.9 seconds
It will switch 40 amps so only one stage of nitrous per controller(up to two solenoids). A bright blue status indicator gives you up to date information.
Simple 4 wire hookup: Blue wire to solenoid ground
Black wire to chassis ground
White wire to 12-16Volt battery +
Black wire is the trigger wire (ground this wire to start the controller pulsing)
It will remember it's timing even when shifting gears for standard cars, after the shift it continues where it left off.
