Teh Bluebird DET head has 7mm Sodium filled exhaust valves, where as the DE head has 6mm non sodium filled valves.

You will probably have a better chance at buying a DET long block then just finding the head. I have a DE head with valves from my DET if you are interested. You will need to get some DET valve guides which I do not have.

what i want to do is have a ported and polished head on my DET. i have my old DE head, but in order to use this i would have to swap the intake manifold also, and i dont know the advantages/disadvantages of doing this also i don't know if it would be a pain or not. i can't afford any downtime on my car so i'm looking for something that could be done quickly. i can't wait on my DET head to get ported and polished so i'm looking at other options. thanx for the help

If you want a ported head with a valve job I have one for sale. The head I have for sale will cost $1,500. This head is fully ported, comes with JWT valve springs and Titanium retaners. The head has a 3 angle valve job. The head also has polished ex ports and slightly rough intake ports for better fuel atomization. The head also has polished combustion chambers which stops hotspots from forming in the head which causes detenation, for $1,600 total I will throw in a ported intake that is maych ported to the head and also has the throttle body opened up for a RC throttle body.

thats a damn good price, considering that with just the parts for the valve springs and retainers are like 600 and you save yourself the labor of putting them on, so 900 bucks for the rest of the head porting and everything is a decent price.

Andreas,

Is it high port or low port, sodium valve's or regular? You have any C cams to go with it? Which C's would you recommend? Thanks.

This head is a Highport head. Non sodium filled valve head. Yes Sodium felled valves are better but not that important. The 9 sec SE-R runs US DE non sodiumn filled heads, most of the guys here with 350-420 HP Fmax kits do not have SR20DET Sodium filled valve heads. I do not have any C cams in stock, but I can get them if you are interested. As far as which C cam I would recomend that depends on what compression ratio you are running. 9.5-10 to 1 I would run C1s. If you have a 11 to1 compression motor that is strocked or bored out I would run C3 cams.

I am almost finished with my C3 cam, highport head that is ported with JWT valve springs and retainer, 90 mm pistons 11.5-1 compression, 2000-01 crank, crower rods, Big Boost Intake, and my custom 1 3/4 OD pipe that has 32 in runners with Burns stainless 4 into 1 header motor when it is up and running I will give up the #s.

I'm debating between turbo and NA. I have a 10:1 w/s3's and bolt ons, what do you suggest? The head and C1's sounds good, as does a T-28 setup. I think the NA would save quite a few headaches in the long run. Any advice would be appreciated.

SCMSER, these are choices you have to make for yourself. Its your car and your budget. If you plan on going turbo bolt on or DET, I would recomend you have about $3500 in your pocket. If you do not go NA.

Here is the bolt on T28 setup new. $1450 for everything new, injs 370cc used $250, JWT $125 for chip change or $550 for new JWT chip, intercooler setup around $600-$900 with piping. and downpipe $270-330 depending on size. If you need a clutch about $375-$425.

If you were to go for a used Avenier T25 price $550-$600. T28 used GTIR about $1000.

NA is listed above for the head and Cams. You will be about 14.0 if you did the engine right at 96-98 MPH in the 1/4 mile NA. Turbo will be form 13.5- 13.0 at 104-106 MPH if you do the turbo set up right.

I wouldn't run C1's on an NA car unless your prime objective was drivability with no loss of low-end power.

They cost a lot for the power they produce. I think that they are the ultimate smaller-turbo cam, though (a GREAT T-28 cam).

If you stay NA, get C2's. They lope, but they are livable, and they gain 25 whp over the stock cams.
