Stripping the whole car is going to be painfully tedious. Where there is rust and crap spots where you to refinish, try to use a DA (dual action sander) or orbital as some call it. Feather out your work as much as possible. It's one of those things that someone needs to show you or explain.

Ive done a shit load of this kinda work in the past....email me some pics and i'l give you a course of action...

Ok.....where do i begin....

I've delt with this before and its not easy so i'l give you your options that i've used before for this kind of work...

OPTION 1: (cheapest)

First Strip the Car to nothing...and i mean nothing.....

if there is no rust holes in the floor or on the interior (doubtful) this works really well....

start by using your wire brush and lots of low grit paper and cleaning up and scuffing the entire interior, be extra rough on the floor...

shop around and get a good rust inhibitor and converter....Veri-prime or something

get some wax a grease remover....Final Kleen...whatever....probably two gallions cause you probably will use it like water on a project like this.........clean everything.....

spray all remaining rust/ previously rusty areas with inhibitor/ converter.

get undercoating or if for look, a truckbed liner kit to coat the floor....be generous.

get spray bomb or spend some bucks on some expoxy primer and spray the rest of the interior.....you will have to scuff the exopy primer after 24 hours for paint to adhier if you plan to do so....use a scotchbrite...

I suggest the same for the exterior minus the undercoatings of course

Also check the underbody and repair as need.....use lots of undercoating here;)

Option 2: (Proper way)

Cut out All the rust and grind out rust; sand away rust and scuff everything like mentioned above.

buy or fabricate replacement panels....
make sheet metal "coupons" for patching holes....

get a adjustable mig welder with a 75% co2 gas and 25% argon gas mix in the tank......i use a miller welder myself.....

grind areas around where you cut out rust to make life easier to weld....

WELD LITTLE BY LITTLE......TAKE YOUR TIME AS TO NOT WARP YOUR PANELS!!!!:eek2:
take your time to grind the welds down smooth after you weld...... but dont heat the panel up and warp it...

After welding in new panels or coupons, be sure to primer over them after they cool to give them some corrosion protection until you can paint it later.....

if the pieces are on the outside and ur going to apply a filler, use a fiberglass filler for strength first before using Bondo, USC, of what ever you use...

after you get all your interior panels replaced and such....then follow option 1 and use the primers and coatings to finish the interior until paint day....

It would take me a couple of page write up to explain everything...i will do a full writeup someday.......if you can give me some pics or full details, i can taylor to your needs.....these are very basic steps, but ive performed them over a period of 10000 hours on only 6 old nissans in the past 2 years....

IF you had the money...i would find someone to sand blast the entire shell top to bottom....inside and out...then expoxy primer the whole shell form top to bottom....it makes life easier later for painting and identifying areas in need of repair......7 layers of paint must equal about 40 mils of paint thickness.....the manufactures limit is 12....damn dude...

as i said....email me some pics and i'l provide a cheap and a proper plan of action for your project.....i always suggest proper over cheap....but body shit ain't cheap...

email me some pics and i'l see what can be done....

get an angle grinder too they make wire brush cups that will take off all the rust with ease. another tip when you are welding in the coupons of sheet metal tack move over a few inches tack and so on all the way around, then go back and fill in the gaps. this will keep help keep the metal from warping

Exactly.....warpage is a bitch.....i wouldn't weld on a panel for more than a few tacks every couple minutes....but im overly cautious too...

oh yeah...if you get a welder....get a good auto tinting face shield....they make life sweet.... welders flash blows
