What could possibly cause this to happen. I drove 4 hours from Toronto to Windsor yesterday in the blazing heat. I dont know why this happened but My temp rose almost o max after having the A/C on for more than 5 minutes.

Anyone know why ?
Any fixes?

Check to see if your both of your cooliong fans are comming on if not i would bet the fan motors are bad.
Good luck

It's the fans.

Why would it not be the compressor. Or me needing a freon fill

Freon would have nothing to do with your car overheating. When you turn on your a/c both cooling fans are to come on to cool the high pressure/high heat that the compressor is causing to the freon that goes through the condenser. If one fan isn't working it will cause your car to overheat because you have the heat of the coolant in the radiator and the heat of the freon in the condenser.

Only overheats underextreme heat conditions. Normal hot days its fine however, its not so cold air coming out more of a cool air. Its definately not cold air.

You could try a double row radiator from a slushbox G.

That is what I'm using (mine's aftermarket) in my turbo G.

Overheating on the highway while moving is a common problem on B13 and P10 cars. We just had this discussion at E-Town Sunday. There are tons of threads on the SE-R mailing list archives and there is yet to be a solution. It is even worst on the NX2000. This problem only seems to occur at temps over like 92-93. Anything below that is it OK. I have done a flush, thermostat, waterwetter, cleaned the condensor and changes to a 1 bar radiator cap. Nothing seems to help. It is a cooling problem I suspect. Turning on the heat helps. But it is annoying. At highway speeds the fans shut off so the header heat is not helping the situation if it is being circulated around with 100 degree ground tempetatures to the radiator.

You hit the nail on the head. I have been turning the heat on to release the heat from the cooling system. You are also correct by saying that it only happens under extreme heat.

It happened again today and I checked and both fans are operating. Im hoping like someone said before that the lack of freon causes the A/C system to over work itself.

I tried taking it in today but every single place was booked solid. I will try again tomorrow
