hey dudes what's good? not too long put a sr20ve in my 93 nx2000. Got it to start up and will do so smoothly (from a cold start) idle around 1.5 to 2x rpm. Then after a few seconds it will stumble down low (below 1x) linger for a few seconds then stumble off. all of this with the air filter head on. when car was warm it would do the same. Change the TPS sensor (guess i didn't have to) and it was the same result. i took the air filter head off and boom it idled much smoother never cutting off at around 1 to 1.5x. slowly put the air filter head on and it stumbles then shuts off. next adjusted tps clockwise (to open butterfly a little) and when i started it and then put filter head on it stayed on. Stumbled a little but not as bad as before. it would idle around 850 900 sometime 1x. this is frustrating me.... do i need to keep playing with the tps sensor?
Another problem i'm having is my fans never come on. they were perfectly working before the swap. i changed both coolent temp sensor and gauge temp sensor. checked fuses inside car on driver side, seem to be all good. (that was last week). hopefully i can get some feedback advise as to what the hell to do:eek2:

Which ECU are you using to control the VE engine?

E's 92' sr20

Check the engine control fuse inside the car, and the fan relays in the engine compartment.

I'll pass by and give you a hand for sure tomorrow. It's gonna be early though.

SR20 Soon?

Your fans arent coming on because you didnt swap over the temperature sensors for the corresponding ecu. Your gage is probably not reading right and your going to end up boiling your coolant. I wired my fans up to a switch because after changing my temp sensor they still didnt work and all my relays and fuses were in order.

Change your temp sensors to the stock ones from a DE if you are using a DE ecu and see if that helps, if not you wire the fans to a switch or the ignition.

I am using the my de ecu. i have a Calum ve program on it.

Temp sensors i bought new and they are for a de motor.

aiight dudes... me chippy figured it out narrowed it down. finally found the correct temperature gauge sensor. (the other is called coolant temp sensor). anyhow from nissan the gauge temp sensor has a blue rubber on it. this is correct for 93 nx2000 (part # 25080-89907). 91 - 92 nx, se-r use a different sensor (it's a black rubber before the prong). i had to ask for temp sensor for 94 se-r. now the needle doesnt move like before. and fans cycle on @ 210 degr.
I must say nissan datascan is one hell of a program!

what do you mean by air filter head on? do you mean you arent running with a maf?

the mass air flow is on i just took off the filter head (pop charger etc) for a second to see how it would idle.

Hey dudes! i'm still having the idle problem. Especially on a cold start. Put the key turn it, it turns over idles to about 2500 rpm for like 3 sec and then it bogs down and stumbles off. do it again, the same thing. i would have to hold my foot on the gas to keep it from shutting down. the needle still jumps up and down a little. so i would rev it to like 3ooo - 35oo rpm. if i let of gas it comes down starts to stumble under 1 rpm like around 300 - 400 then cut off. i checked/changed fuel filter, bought a new de TPS sensor (the other was the ve) set it at .48 v, cleaned out idle air control valve - swapped another de aac plug (and metal soleniod the one with octagon sides), changed MAF sensor (de one). all this - im still getting same response. i checked the alternator right after swap. it was reading 12.8 - 12.93 or so volts. so i was told it was going bad. but since then (and after driving one or two time to feel it out) it read around 13.7 or so volt. it would go up and down a bit. im wondering could this be an underlying cause for bad idle? i still have the ve alternator but didn't keep it on when doing swap. alternator at the moment is from a 2001 altima 2.4 liter that is being used. i have G spec crank pulley. using a de ecu with a calum ve program. (it was doing this before is sent if off). i keep checking behind airintake manifold, everything appears in good order. that one little vaccumm nipple at top of manifold (to the right) i have blocked off. when the car is finally warmed up, it will still idle up and down under 1 rpm (around 850- 900) but would not cut off. this after messing with that little throttle bracket screw ( gotta use a allen key) and the black iacv knob. occasionally it would jump above 1 rpm to 1.5 or 2 rpm. it is never a steady constant dead on idle. For the life of me i can't understand why this is so. i hope i've given enough info. To start from scratch i'll put on the ve crank pulley and alternator and see what happens. all my wire plugs look good, fuses, relays are good. i drove it a couple times. was doing a steady 55, throughout ride i could feel a back n forth like motion. Like something holding it back. Pressing on gas is when it would happen. at times it's bogging i guess. This is so mind boggling it's frustrating. any ideas would be appreciated.
