Okay, so the turbine shaft had some bearing material stuck on it, so the bearings wouldn't slide onto it. I put it on a lathe and used a file and some emry paper to get it off. Now when the bearing bushing/bearing is on there it has some play in it. I can move it a little up and down if you know what I mean; how much play is supposed to be there? I'm ready to have it all balanced, but just wanted some imput! Thanks guys. P.S. What should I send off with the compressor wheel, turbine shaft, and nut to have balanced, or is that it?

I think the tolerance is @ .020". Basically if you have contact with either the compressor or turbine housing it is out of spec. When you drop some oil in it the wheel should tighten up quite a bit.

Did you use over sized bushings or measure the clearances between the shaft and bushing to make sure they were acceptable? I know a few rebuild kits come with or can be ordered with over sized bushings. You might want to look into that.

When you send it to be balanced make sure the center section is fully assembled and that the nut is torqued to spec.

i know it will never have absolute "zero" play in it. mine, i can feel a "very" slight movement, but i know it is good, after my rebuild. gpopshop.com did a great job on balancing mine. 65 bucks, plus shipping. i went with the two day overnight, so shipping was 26 bucks additional. standard shipping was like 15 bucks, to me anyways...

I dont actually have it in the center section yet, because I haven't found a snapring plyer small enough to do the bushing retainers.
