I have a 94 w/ a stock Nissan clutch (20K on it) and I have a JWT PP. When I come to a stop and I try to go into 1st gear it's like tyring to have an arm wrestling match to get that into gear. This has just recently started to happen and is seems to be getting worse. I can't seem to trace it to anything in particular. If I am a complete stop or if I am going like 1-5MPH this still happens. What the hell should I check before this totally gives out? I also run MT-90 and I haven't checked the level in about a month but the last time I checked it it was full and I haven't seen any leaks.

Check to see that your firewall motor mount bracket is bolted completely on.

I left one bolt off and there was a gap between the mount and the tranny. Maybe 1/2 inch clearance. But it was enough to make putting the car into 1st a PITA and shifting a chore.

More than likely it is the clutch cable. I had the same problem recently. Before you change it try adjusting it. There is a rubber gromet on the end of the cable near the adjustment wheel. In my case the rubber gromet was torn causing the cable to loose tension I replaced it and my problem was solved (I had a old cable I took it off of). This should fix your problem.

thay say there is no such thing as a stupid question but I will prove this theory wrong: Where is this adjustment wheel?

It's on the clutch cable right off the trans. Look straight down to the left of your battery but in front of your intake tube. It is right off the trans. I would check your motor mounts too. When I did my mounts I noticed a huge difference. And I would not put your car into first gear rolling at all. First is for take offs. I learned the hard way and bought trans parts.

It's sorta underneath all the intake crap. Easiest way to find it is to look under the dash and see where the cable goes thru the firewall then trace it back in the engine bay.

You will probably need to move some stuff around though. IIRC I had to pull the intake up to the TB and the relay switches near the battery to get at it.

I had a problem getting into 1st and Reverse and all I needed to do was adjust the cable. As your clutch wears down it gets thinner, and the point at which the clutch engages changes since the cable is 'miscalibrated'. So a quick adjustment moves the engagement point to where it should be and you're set.

All this information can be found on www.se-r.net, and if you need more detail I'm sure someone here would scan the relevant pages of the FSM for you.

I had the same symptoms and it was the firewall mount. It was torn and that really made it hard to shift into first gear. I have heard the same things from others on se-r.net.
