My POS craftsman torque wrench finally took a crap so I'm looking into getting a new one. I want a TQ wrench which will be durable, will have a nice range from lets say; 2 N.M to 120 ft/lbs, will last and will not need to be calibrated too often. I want to get possibly Snap-On TQ wrench . I don't mind spending $250+ on a nice TQ wrench. Before I buy I would like to get your opinions.

Thanks,

Tony

Those are nice as hell! The vibrate feature is pretty cool also.

aren't craftsman tools backed by a lifetime warranty??

Yes! Definately go with the Snap-On TechWrench! Thats all I use, My brother has the 1/2" and 3/8"... Pimp for sure. It is nice because it will beep and give a vibrate when you reach the desired Torque and show the actual torque value applied. This is cool because with the click-type I know I always over-torque a couple pounds after the click. I know a few pounds wont make a huge difference in most things, but when you are dealing with the bottom end, you want to be accurate.

Snap-On now has angle meter versions for about $100 more! Perfect for heads and bottom ends.

The only thing is they drain batteries when sitting in the tool chest.

guy I work with has the snap on digital one with the torque angle. It will let you ratchet back and still remember how much of an angle you need to go, pefrect for tight places. He also noticed the battery problem though

I have the Snap On digital w/o the angle torque setting. That thing is great. It actually vibrates/beeps slighlty before you reach your torque setting. As far as batteries, I have to replace mine about every 4-6 months.

what!!!!! that is bullshit!!!

what!!!!! that is bullsh*t!!!

mainly because their lifetime warranty covers all handtools that you can literally beat on forever till it breaks. The tq wrench is considered an "instrument". It needs to be recalibrated after so many "uses", Hence why its not coved as lifetime. Thats what the sales rep told me when i went to buy one ~ 3 months ago.

I bought a Gearwrench brand torque wrench from my toolguy that was less than half the cost of a snap on, and has worked just fine for me so far. When you have a wrench just make sure you store it with the setting on 0 and not like up on 80 or 90 ft lbs. and it won't need calibration as often.

I like the Husky brand ones at HD for around $60. They have a lifetime on them so if you drop it or something you can just take it back. They also come in a nice plastic case.

actually they only have a 30 day warranty or something crappy for the digital and clicking tq wrenches. the only ones with the extended warranty are the ones you have to eyeball the pointer to guess at the proper tq.

I've had the same one for about 18 months and I like it a lot.

Snap On or CDI. Cant go wrong.
Back in my Calibration Lab days I never saw them be less accurate than +/- 2% FS.
The Snap On Digitals were w/in 1%.

it says only a 90 day warranty. i guess the people at your sears either don't give a shit, or you intimidate the hell out of them. either way, i wish my sears was like that.
