: how do i make my headlights brighter?
Jedi_SR20det 10-03-2007, 02:50 PM i have super white bulbs and want them brighter. do you think a upgraded wiring harness would help? would make a difference? how many watts do you think the stock b14 headlight harness puts out? my bulbs are 100/90w. i found a 100/90w harness and a 130/100w.they both have relays and fuses. i think the watts is just in the relays. would the 130/100w be better or will it blow out my bulb??? which one should i get??
NismoB14SX 10-03-2007, 04:32 PM is the headlight lense foggy? maybe refinish that. If it were me, I wouldn't go messing around with the relays. If you really want bright lights, get a proper HID kit.
meguiars plastx. repeat 2-3 times as directed. revive old lenses!

when you say "super white" bulbs do you meen APC blue bulbs?.......or any "blue/xenon" bulb? if so you would be better off with normal halogen bulbs.

mhm. Proper HID's. make sure of that. not some cheap E-bay crap.
CovertRussian 10-03-2007, 11:02 PM What kind of headlights are you running?
If you are running anything JDM which required you to redo the harness then your wiring can be wrong.
What year is your car?
I found out that my 99 Sentra SE-L ran better with 9007 bulbs over 9004's. In fact 9004's were reversed, Low beam was actually high beam and high beam was actually low beam and they neither were bright at all.
Oh he is probably running the Sylvania Silverstars or something similar ;)
t bags 10-03-2007, 11:12 PM x2 on the hid..
Acceler8ter 10-04-2007, 02:41 AM I got a set of stealth crystal clear headlights and corners from Dick. They are ridiculously bright. I love them. You have to re-do your harness, but you get to run larger bulbs.
I'm constantly getting beamed by other drivers thinking I'm running around with my brights on. Haha, love it. Check into getting some crystal clears, they're the best solution I have found for getting brighter lights (unless you want HID's, this is the brightest you can get).
Sentra GTR-1 10-04-2007, 05:49 AM Absolutley right! Make sure you get quality HIDs not that ebay nonsense- there is a difference. Some come with the casper shields too which keep the light from glaring all over the place.
ChronicG 10-04-2007, 12:13 PM HIDS.. 200 shipped.
Jedi_SR20det 10-07-2007, 04:38 AM i know hids are the best solution but im getting a paint job before i get hids. i already cleaned my lenses. im running h4's in my 96. i already bought the harness. i need to know about relay power. should i get the 30a or the 30/40a? whats the 30/40a relay? is it 40 or 30 amps? i read that it means 30 normally closed and 40 normally open. if so which one would i be using with the headlight harness guys???
NismoB14SX 10-07-2007, 11:33 AM see, i have no real idea, but just from the info you've given, I'd think the 30/40. My reasoning is that I'm thinking maybe that's what switches the highs and makes it brighter? Just a shot in the dark, persay. haha.

Ok great, thats what I was looking for.
Now when you turn on the lights, low beams, does the high beam light come on, and when you turn on high beams, does the high beam light get brighter?
Please don't do anything, or buy anything, I think I know what could be wrong ;)

i think its just my low beam brighter when turned on and my high beam getting brighter when on. what do you mean?
CovertRussian 10-09-2007, 06:08 PM Alright, double check your wiring, since you said you have H4 light bulbs, that means you have to use the H4 Harness. The H4 harness is wired a bit differently from the stock 9003/9007 harness, the biggest difference is the ground being in the different location.
Here is what you should do. Go to your car and look at the H4 harness and look at the wires that it connects to.
Make sure the wires match up to this diagram:

Let me know if you have any issues :biggthump

Great to hear! :biggthump
Did you have to rewire it according to the diagram that I posted? :)
Now if you get some Sylvania Sylverstars for $40, you will have something as bright as some HID's. You will want to adjust them not to blind people too :biggthump
