: 15.315@89.87 mph I should be faster.
sakerocket1 07-06-2002, 12:42 AM Why why cant I get any faster no matter what. My car is still around the same. It was weighed tonight 2520lbs 1/4 tank no spare, jack, A/C. no driver. I kinda dont think my motor is 10:1 like thought before, but just a lowly jdm 9.5:1 . see mods below. Here is my slip,
rt .603
60' 2.268
330 6.427
1/8 9.882 @ 70.83
1000 12.834
1/4 15.315 @ 89.87
here is the first time I went, same track similar weather.
The car was stock except for Ghetto air box w/ K&N, exhaust from cat back, and timing, on crap tires. 3 years ago also. the very first time I ever went drag racing, first pass too. Thats what makes it worse in my mind that I've not gone far in 3 years.
Rt 1.140
60' 2.362
330 6.552
1/8th 10.032 @ 70.95
1000' 13.034
1/4 15.563 @89.04
My best mph ever was set tonighta 90.48 but still slow times. Am I freaking out or am I rightfully worried. Maybe because the temp outside was 96 degrees, with a 42% humidity. barometer read 30.12" and that 15.563 three years ago was in mid march. probly loser to mid 60's in temp. Do I need to put the crack pipe down?
Wicked R 07-06-2002, 03:03 AM just to give you a little pointer... my buddy ran his car (a z24) at one track and couldnt break 16.0... then took the same car to another track and broke a 15.4... From what I can tell, your 60's are good... is there another track you can go to??

SERprise In WV 07-06-2002, 11:56 AM Nick--
I think a .20 improvement across the board with no other mods is pretty impressive. Just think: In the 1/4 mile, .10 equals *about* one car length.
You're now two car lengths quicker than you were before.
One-half point of compression isn't that big a deal to fret over, IMHO.
Keep going to the track, experimenting with different launch rpms, etc., and watch the ETs go down. You've made -what- 2 runs in 3 years? Practice, practice, practice.
On a related note: You're invited to join us at Car Wars tomorrow (Sunday) just outside of Lexington, KY for some 1/4 mile runs on a different (maybe not better) track. Chris (MauiBlueGride) and Brian (Tuned200) are coming down from Erlanger. You should come, if you can.
We can get your car in the 14s, with some tinkering. ;)

I thought the same thing at first my friend only had the 10 to 1 jdm motor CAI and Hotshot header in his SE-R, until he beat me from stoplight to stoplight. I was like damn, it was quick. I have I/H/E/Pulleys on a jdm 9.5 compression motor. He was lucky that nite but I beat him every time since in a speed contest. For my mods I should be killing him but it is not like that, I beat him but hes always right there I guess my 2.5in exhaust helps me alot. I think the 10 to 1 compression definetly helps.
Loe Lyf 07-06-2002, 01:33 PM Get your 60' down.
99SE-L 07-06-2002, 01:41 PM you mean your i/h/e and 4 pulley set only dropped .2 seconds?
WOT2000 07-06-2002, 03:10 PM Nick, I think that sounds pretty decent and typical for a car with your mods. The 96 degree weather sure as hell didn't help! My personal bragging point is having run the first 14.x second 1/4mi ET in a N.A. B13. (an se-r list witness was in the other lane and no one has ever contested it!) But it was only about 56 degrees that night! That car ran a lot of other 14 second passes up the road from you at Kil-Kare Raceway, but with more mods. Are you at Edgewater?
My NX with 130K on the clock, an undersized B-pipe (midas type crap from the P.O.) and a JWT ECU did 15.3 @ 87 on the same track. Your speed sounds really low for the time, like my 87. I always blamed it on the midas exhust not letting it breathe at high RPMs. Have you thought about headers? That's what really woke up my car.

try working on your 60ft. it could be a little better. Is there any wheel hop? with street tires, you should be able to get it down .1 or maybe .2 sec. Also, your 10 sec. 1/8mi. time seems kinda slow for a 15.3. You shouldve brokein into the 9's. Once again, 60ft.? Remember that humidity and tempurature affects your cars performance.
sakerocket1 07-06-2002, 06:38 PM This car has seen 78 passes all together, wheel hopp broken trannys, you know the drill . the wheel hop is mostly gone now and the Azenis seem to hook better than my old sp8000's. Wayne I have a header and pulleys, and CAI now I removed AC,the cat is gone too.I have a decent suspension now compared to before. When I ran the 15.563 Ionly had the ghetto airbox, and exhaust. Maybe next time I'll take off my test pipe. This is a new exhaust the old one is around here somewhere.
sakerocket1 07-06-2002, 06:40 PM I'm thinking it had to do with weather. it was hot and humid. and the first time I went I think it was in the 60's anyway it was an Ideal early spring day. I hope thats all it is.
sakerocket1 07-06-2002, 06:42 PM where is this at? The car wars that is call me I'm off tomorrow. How far is erlanger from around Tri-county mall?

i work in fairfield, so your looking at about 16 or so miles to KY, then another 10 to erlanger, then another 1 1/2-2 hours to clay city. i wont be there due to det releated issues, hell i just took the car home tonight and i already messed up the pass axle. i guess the 10 lb sledge hammer we used to remove it messed the threads up and now i cant get the bolt back on, so i will be picking up a new one in the morning, but i will not be at car wars.
Greg, i have a thread in the turbo section on home depot fmic pipe, what do i need to buy to do it, or should i stay away from pvc?
have fun tomorrow everyone, i be beating your _____ at the next one.
Brian
sakerocket1 07-07-2002, 12:53 AM I looked all over the site but I cant find what time it starts. when should I leave here?are you guys meeting up before?
Dan_93SER 07-07-2002, 03:47 AM 2.2 - 2.3 sec 60' times are just fine for street tires.
I think your times are just about right for what mods you have done.
sr20sleeper 07-07-2002, 01:23 PM 15.3 sounds ok to me, i have a classic with POP, header, and exhaust and i was stuck at 15.25 @ 90.5 for the longest time until one night i just ran a 14.9. I think the heat makes alot of difference... when i finally ran my 14 second pass it was in the upper 50's/low 60's. you have good 60' times and your trapping at 90mph so that seems pretty standard with bolt ons. wait till september and run again when it isnt so hot out. youll prolly cut a 10th or two off.
nathan
Chris93SER 07-07-2002, 06:18 PM Considering it was 96 degrees out and humid, a 15.3 is a pretty good time. My car feels SLOW when it's hot and humid out. I bet you if you run again when it's about 65-70 degrees out, you'll drop that time down a nice amount.
