OK, here's the problem. I just replaced my Pacesetter muffler with a 3A Racing stainless muffler that I got from SERprise In WV (thanks again, Greg) for a number of reasons: the 3A is cooler, and it was cheap, but most importantly because I thought that the guts of the PS were loose and rattling at 2500 rpm. Here's the funny part: the rattle has not gone away, it's moved to about 1600 rpm. The muffler sounds great, deep and not too loud (thanks AGAIN, Greg), but the rattle is driving me nuts.

My next-door neighbor thinks that something inside the cat is loose, and that the rattle has moved because the different backpressure from the new muff is creating a different resonance point for the exhaust system. Yes, he is a car guy and knows what he's talking about.

From being under the car I don't think this is a heat shield or similar; anybody want to weigh in about the possibility of loose cat-insides, or anything else that comes to mind?

Thanks in advance.

Kent--

First off, glad you like the muffler. For the money, it's tought to beat.

Secondly...you have a Paceheader, correct? If so, you've got the crickets. A metal-like sound, sort of like marbles hitting metal pipe? No one's been able to figure that one out.

If that's not it, then yes, your catalytic converter may be the culprit. Summit has some very nice Catco units in the $60 range. I put one on my car last month.

Hope this is of some help.

The cat could very well be the problem they do come apart inside just remove it and give it a shake and see it it rattles if it does call summit racing.

Greg -

I have a Hotshot header, that I got from Minnic when he went turbo, before he dropped off the face of the earth.

The midpipe is from the Pacesetter system. I know the Hotshots also make noise, but seem not to on a B13... I seem to remember reading that someone got the flexpipe on their HS replaced and the noise went away.

Oh, well, guess I'll be pulling the cat to see what the deal is.

Thanks guys.
