My friends have the clutchnet disk 6puck w/springs and ACt heavy duty pressure plate in his Nx2000 and the clutch just took a shit on him.
When we pull the Tranny out, the disk is all apart. I mean broken in pieces.
It was just regular driving on the highway.

Ive used that setup for the past 750 miles and its held up so far. The thing about the clutch that worries me is my brother called them and they said you have to machine the PP a little. Its because the disc is slightly thicker than what its supposed to be and affects the engagement. I havent machined it cause he told me last week but nothing happened so far, and Ill just slap in a ACT PP if anything happens but it would really suck ***.

thanks for the heads up... I've seen others run this clutch disc with no problems.. I hope this is just a defective clutch disc.. I have one with the solid hub that I will be installing soon..

dang, i got a ACT extreme p/p and clutchnet 3 puck sprung hub i was gonna install soon. i hope nothing goes wrong.
suckit - goes your clutch engage properly? if the disc is to thick, then it wouldnt disengage. so i gues if it works fine, then it should be ok.

My ***** actually engages fine. NO new cable or anything, just my old Act PP and the disc. The only thing is that it engages too high for my taste.

What was said about differing clutch disc thicknesses is mostly right. Nissan OEM discs are one of the few clutch discs that are of a non-standard thickness. They are thinner than most discs. Almost all aftermarket clutch manufacturers get the raw friction materials from the same manufacturers, and are almost universally the same thickness. That said, when you get a aftermarket clutch/PP (ACT, clutchnet, etc.) the clutch discs are slightly thicker than a stock OEM disc. Since performance pressure plates all start out as a normal, OEM-style pressure plate and are modified to increase spring rate/clamping force, when a clutch company pairs the PP with a performance disc (thicker than stock) the big, thick piece of cast steel in the PP that contacts the disc must be slightly machined down to accomodate a thicker disc. If this isn't done, the PP will have crappy engagement and bad or odd effort because the PP "fingers" start off in a slightly different position when you push the pedal. This is one reason why i prefer/reccomend buying a matched disc/pp set from one manufacturer, because you are assured that the thicknesses are all correct. I am not positive about how this works in reverse, since many people have good luck with JWT PP/stock disc combos... YMMV, etc... but seriously, if you can, buy a matched set.
One manufacturer I highly recommend is Clutch Specialties - the owner really knows his stuff, they have good customer service, and the price is SOO right.. They do the right thing by steering people away from the puck clutches when they aren't really needed (most people). Instead they recommend a high-performance organic disc sprung hub :) ) and a 2000lb PP. (probably comparable to ACT 'hot' street disc and HD PP, but cheaper) but they will build you whatever you want.
The Clutchnet disc in my car now is also really nice. It is a sprung hub with High-performance organic on one side and Segmented Fiber-Tuff (kevlar-like) on the other side. super-smooth engagement but lots of grab. I am runnning it with a Clutch Specialties pressure plate right now.
I think a lot of people get the ACT 6-puck because it sounds all bad-ass to say "yo, i got a 6-puck dogg!" and because it will hold a shit-load of power. However, i think it is pretty harsh on trannies and the chatter is bearable to some, but quite annoying to me. Most people with the 6-puck will never make enough power to need more than a heavy-duty organic sprung disc and a nice 2000lb PP. PLus, it is soooo much nicer to drive on a daily basis.
