: clutch suggestion?
SER REAL 10-09-2007, 09:18 PM OK, I was up at Infineon last week and I noticed my clutch would slip badly after 10-15 min out on the track, coming off the hairpin in 2nd gear. I currently have an Exedy street clutch and PP along with a Fidanza flywheel. The clutch is about 2 years old with a handful of track days of use and less than 20K mi under its belt. Mods are UK 10:1 SR20DE with pretty much all the bolt-ons and puts out about 160 to the wheels.
Any suggestions on what to get? I've heard good things about Clutchnet kits. Also JWT PP with a 2000 disc? Or what about the Key Value kit? I'm not sure the KV kit would hold up?
I just want something that can withstand 3-4 track days a year and have a pedal feel close to stock since I daily drive this car. I love the light pedal pressure of my Exedy, but hate it can't hold up 10 min on the track! TIA.
SHigSpeed 10-09-2007, 10:55 PM JWT/2000 FTW! That's what was in my car when you drove it. Light pedal, great grip for NA powah! No complaints here...

I think that's the standard for track day clutches! :biggthump

I'd do a JWT pressure plate and the fiber tough disc. The 2000 disc might have a slightly weak hub.
SHigSpeed 10-10-2007, 10:54 AM Where do you buy the fiber tough disc from? $$?
Thanks!

JWT.
SER REAL 10-10-2007, 06:24 PM Cool...thanks for the suggestions, Mike, Blair. I'll probably just do the JWT PP/2000 disc unless the fiber tough disc from Jwt is not that much more?
What's the part # for the 2000 disc? I can get OEM Nissan parts from my bro-in-law for cheap but just need the part#.

If you are a easy on the car type driver then the 2000 disc works fine. If you have trouble rev matching and stuff then the hub tends to get beat up.

Hmm...I'm definitely not easy on the car on the track, but at the same time, I don't dog the sh!t ouf of it. I'm sure the 2000 disc is much less than the JWT though so I may just go with that seeing that Scotty swears by it.
Setzer 10-12-2007, 01:27 AM Keep your exedy pressure plate and fidanza flywheel and grab one of the newer act 6-puck discs. It is a great setup.

And watch your transmission explode.

Funny how we have been running puck discs for years now on our track and street cars with no tranny issues...

Then you probably don't road race.

If you run a puck clutch chances are the transmission will break within 10-20 race weekends. With a less aggressive disc, with the proper maintanance it will last much longer, perhaps nearly forever. But if it works for you, more power to you.

Yeah, as much as a 6-puck disc sounds enticing, I think that's a little too aggressive with the relatively moderate amount of power(~160whp) and the fact that's its daily driven. I'll keep it budget and stick with the 2000 disc and be done with it! Thanks again, for the suggestions, fellas.
