It's time for a boost controller and I'm trying to figure out whats best. I like the idea of gear based boost on the AVC-R. i know for sure that i want electronic so that narrows it down. where is the cheapest place to get 'em. Any opinions would be appreciated.

Greddy profec-b.....best bang for the buck. Search ebay, or maybe somebody has one on the forum that they want to get rid of.

do you have to go by your boost gauge to set the low and high settings on the Profec-B? what exactly does the balance knob do?

that apexi one is wild...try learning hi boost in 5th gear...its dangerous. the apexi one looks nice but i think its tougher to use.
the profec-b is the best bang for the buck and you do have to use the boost gauge to set the boost. the balance knob is like a gain adjustment.
the profec-a is really nice i think. its simple. doesnt have all the cool bells and whistles like the apexi, btu you just turn the knob to the boost you want. it is measured in Bar though. i believe it is also a fuzzy logic learning type.

I plan on getting the Profec B. It seems to be the EBC of choice. SCC recently did a BC comparison, and it ratd the Profec B as excellent. Easy to use, great results, and you can add a remote switch to select between hi/low boost settings. If you look around you can find them new for about $300.

AVC-R is way over kill for what you need. You don't need the other features such as duty cycle % that is associated with the AVC-R. I believe the AVC-R is fuzzy logic which has a wierd programming sequence which requires you to make full boost passes in certain gears so the boost controller learns the fuel/boost map. I woudln't risk it.
Teh PRofec B is a very simple and efffective boost controller. It has a low and high boost setting for street use and track use. Great boost controller for the money.
