Long story, short version:
This guy I know has a '85 300ZX turbo. He just swapped engines in it. And I got the old turbo free! Does anybody know anything about these? I think it's a T3, but that's all. I need info, and advice. What would be the easiest way to make this work? I was thinking of the Hotsot manifold, or a GTI-R w/ a new flange. Anything I need to look out for? Haven't pulled the old manifold off it yet, but from what I can see so far the wheels spin freely, and there's no play. It has an internal wastegate, but I'm not sure what it's set for. Not too worried about that since I'll run a boost controller. I'm off to search through ZX boards now, but if anybody can help, that would be great. Thanks,
Jason

you can use the gti-r manifold with a t3 flange adapted or welded on. should run fine on stock boost and 370cc injectors. if you get bigger injectors and MAF you can opent it up to a good 15lbs and be doing great

honestly if i was you i would just try to sell the whole engine, but that wouldnt be cool to the guy that gave it to you i guess. It must not be in that great of shape if the guy is getting rid of it, but I'm sure you can get it to work.

I went to work (where my tools are) and pulled everything apart. It looks to be in pretty fair shape. Both wheels spin free, no play, and very little sludge in oil passages. Man, this thing is tiny. Compresser inlet is only 52mm i.d., and outlet is 36mm i.d. Is that bad? O2 sensor location is built into the J-pipe, so I guess I can use that. Found out stock wastegate setting is 4-5 psi. No big deal.

BTW, sleeping 91ser, I don't have the whole engine, just the turbo.
