I just read this somewhere and was wondering if its true. You can put an sr bell housing and put it on the ka24de tranny and it will work good. Are there any pros and cons to this. Also, would the ka24e tranny work as well?

KA and SR's are the same transmission, just a different bellhousing. 5th gear is the only one difference. SR is a .838, KA is a .759. I gather there are minor differences in synchro's and the like as the years progressed., and sensors you won't need/use.

Yeah you may have seen my post about this question a while back. I asked it because i had come across some false information that led me to beleive the SR tranny had a taller first gear than the KA. I've since been corrected.

We just swap a KA24DE tranny on a S13 SR20DET housing and it works great

It does work. Take the bolts out that are holding the middle together, then take the front cover off that's on the inside of the bell housing. You'll see a metal snap ring, once you take that off it all comes apart. There's 2 snap rings, one has little holes in it and the other one is just gapped. Hope that helps you.

Will a FWD SR bellhousing work on a RWD KA tranny?

No, it won't.

Damn, oh well thanks for saving me the effort of going to my local wrecking yard to find out the hard way.
