: power steering noise?

after swaping the motor, i have noticed a power steering noise, almost a whine. its hard to describle, maybe air got into it when we remover the hose? if so, can i bleed it/how? thanks everyone for all the help/advice.

From what I read and know, it's a self bleeding system. If you are using the same pump that was on your other motor then it could be the belt not aligned right.???... Where is the noise coming from? The pump? The steering rack? A trapped squirrel under the hood? Sorry I can't help more.

The PS system is bled by starting the car with the front on stands (wheels off the ground) and turning the steering wheel from lock to lock several times. That's it. Just don't leave it at the lock location. The pump won't like it.

Not to alarm you, but I just had to replace the pump in my G. It started out whining. Eventually the shaft actually came out of the pump. :eek:

It was a pain to R&R since I had to remove the halfshaft, but it's not all that hard. Hopefully yours won't come to that and it just needs a good bleeding.
