: Lots of tire screeching after installing AGX/GCs???

Does anyone else exhibit lots of tire squealing after installing AGX/GC's (on a B14)? The car is now noticeably stiffer (I have 325/180 springs and the AGX's set on 4/6). Body roll is very minimal too (I put on both a FSTB and RSTB). However, on moderately fast sweeping turns the tires squeal a lot, while I'm pretty sure at the same speeds stock, it wouldn't have. However, taking like a 90 degree turn is much improved, with minimal squealing where previously it would squeal a lot. Is this characteristic ?? The tire squealing scares me, and I don't really like it much as it attracts too much attention when I don't want it, I mean if I'm just passing another guy with my tires squealing, the other guy will be thinking what kind of lunatic is next to me ?!!??!

Also I noticed the rear tires are wearing on the inside (the very inside tread block is pretty much smooth now) while the fronts seem fine. I'm not 100% sure this happened after my install, but I'm pretty sure its due to my suspension... I will rotate the tires tomorrow to see if I wear out the insides again. I haven't gotten an alignment yet (I will once I figure exactly what ride height I want), but I was under the impression that the rears have nothing to be aligned on a B14 so are the rears supposed to wear funny ???

get a front end alignment asap! after installing my moti's, i went to firestone and got a lifetime of alignments for $135. it's paid for itself 3 times over already.
you're correct, there is no adjustment capability on the rear of your B14 (other than bending the axle) fwiw, the rear of my B14 is running 7/16" total toe in and ~ -1.5 camber and have very acceptable tire wear.

is there really nearly 1/2" in total toe in on those cars? Thats seems incorrect...

Why only 180s in the rear?

i bought em used, they were advertised as 325/250 but the spring said 180 oh well look at the bright side, with 180s it should be safer for me :)

You probably have 250 lb springs in the back.
If I remember correctly from installing GC's the 180 is an identifier on the spring and not the actual rate in lbs.

does the label that's stamp on the spring say something like:

180/xx/xx ?

it's been a while since i looked at my springs, but i do have some weird numbers stamped on my rear springs. those numbers are in metric measurements. there are couple springs GC use that have metric units.

the 180 is the length of the spring, which is ~7in (180mm). the middle number should be 63 or 64 (inner diameter of spring, which shold be 2.5in). the last number is the spring rate. i forgot what mine says though.

it's been awhile since i messed with my suspension. i could be wrong. but i'm 100% sure some springs come in metric units.

Mine came metric.

To solve the tire squeal : slow the f#$k down on the street!!!

So you probably have to get out and push the rear of the car to get it to rotate, huh? :)
