i attemted to do a maf reground this weekend but pulled it *** i wasnt a good contact,
any recommendations of a particular type of solder to use?

i tried to do it using that tape solder stuff from radio shack, i thought it would work *** i used that stuff when i soldered my wiring harness

Use a 60/40 solder with a flux core. Stuff is really common and can be had at radio shack, probably in a little tube all wound up.

I also meant to add that for under $20, you can get a pencil style solder iron, and some 60/40 solder. Will work well for any light weight soldering. For larger jobs, you'll need a more powerful iron.
