Just some recent observations.
Redline M-90 gear oil rocks (Good). Dunno if it really is freeing up any HP (did the switch to synth engine oil a year ago) but it definately smooths out the box. Mine had been gettin grouchy w/ age and having run GL5 (whoops) for a year or two. Shifting is a little less notchy. Parallel parking still occasionally requires a touch of patience. Once rolling it is noticably slicker. Thumbs up.
Carbotech Panthers are amazing pads (Good) but really not for everyday (although i've been on em for a month). A little weak for the first stop or two then, 'firing retro-rockets'. But in a week they will coat yer wheels in some thick sooty dust. Easy to clean off but it comes on quik. Oh yeah, they squeel like MAD. Every once in a while i will get a dirty look from someone in stop&go traffic. That look of "fix yer brakes ya goof!" Oh well, little do they know. Panic stops are pretty interestin too. Never worry bout what's in front. The worry is whether the BFT SUV behind me can stop in time. =P

BTW , Teddy failed IL emmisions test (Bad) >=(.............
But that's another thread alltogether. Prolly in Tech Corner.

Well, not just Chi-town, you have to worry bout it in the St Louee area as well. The link shows the testing Counties.

Simply has to do with where the smog/ozone problems are. Of course, that out of tune CTA bus or construction truck (that sits idling for hours on end so the driver can sit in A/C comfort) can belch black diesel smoke all over w/ impunity. I mean i failed by a few hairs on CO. HC was half the limit and NOx was undetected (advisory anyways). And i'm sure given some werk i could pass way under. Just not worth paying shop prices to do it. And i will need receipts for $450+, to get a waiver anyway.
Makes me feel like getting an old pickup (bout $250) w/ a leaky carb. 10x the pollution and it would pass.
I hate environmental politics sometimes.

He he. No emissions testing for me! Sometimes there are actual advantages to living in Central Illi. I get the  look from people all the time when I tell them I don't have to do emmissions testing, and they think I'm crazy 'cause they think the whole state has to. Of course, to most Chicagoans, Chicagoland IS the state, and Southern Illinois is anywhere south of Kankakee.

So, Paul, why didn't you pass?

Don't worry Paul, I got "connections" and we'll get you to pass. It might cost you a Franklin... ;)

Oh i know better than that. Werked for a while in both Springfield and Paducah KY. It takes just as long to cross the state NtoS as it does to get to Cleveland. =P
Then again Chi-land is 75%+ of population and tax revenue, so in those ways it IS most of IL. Always seemed that WI or even MN would be better matches in terms of rural areas being like the big city (politically, socially, more liberal and progressive etc). Sit down and talk to people in rural IL and ya begin to feel that the MasonDixon line goes thru Joliet. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing. I strive to display the positive traits of a Southern Gentleman.
As for the test failure details are here in Tech Corner ---->http://www.sr20deforum.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21764

Tsk Tsk Tsk Steve. =P
Actually thanks for the offer, i'm just hoping i don't have to take you up on it. I failed by a hair and think i can make it under. As disgusting as the hypocracy is on this issue, i feel compelled to make Teddy as clean&green as he can be. I'm an Environmental Chemist for cryin out loud.
I was talking to Eric (WickedR) a while ago bout this and his ride. A DET could pass w/ some careful tuning cause IL doesn't get hardcore like CA w/ visual inspections. Pass the sniffer and yer good to go. Worth it IMO to at least try.
