You need to take a look at these if you are still planning on building your monster car. A lot cheaper than the HKS series but the equivalent of it. Although it might have a flange to bolt onto DSM's. You might want to check into that.

Who are you supersik if you don't mind me asking? I just like to get an idea of who the San Diego SE-R owners are.

Those are just regular Garrett GT turbos that they mated to Mitsu turbine housings so they will bolt up to DSM manifolds. The Garrett GT turbos are available normally with normal (T28 etc..) flanges. You should be able to get any of those turbos for the same price with a regular turbine housing and flange (factory garrett, not a recarved mitsu housing :) ) . The HKS GT turbos are all Garrett turbos, some of which have proprietary tweaks by HKS. For example: the HKS GT3037 is an off-the-shelf Garrett GT turbo with an HKS-proprietary turbine housing instead of the regular Garrett housing. This is part of the reason why the 3037 is so bad-ass; the HKS housing is well designed and well sized - a nice improvement over the regular Garrett housing. I believe some of the HKS turbos are straight from the Garrett shelves without any tweaks - but don't quote me on that. Another data point: Andreas Miko has had good success with the Garrett GT turbos straight off the shelf - not from HKS. This is not surprising since the GT turbos are all newer, more efficient designs than older turbos like t3/to4's t25/8 etc.. as well as having full cartridge bearings. They are expensive ***, but not as expensive as buying from HKS.
I believe Rob Williams may already have a turbo picked out, and i don't think its. . . ;)

before someone asks: HKS 3037 turbos are sold for about $2500 retail. External wastegate. Can be found cheaper, but not much.

Where else can you get these Garrett GT series turbos for cheap?

Im not sure Terrin.. I'm sure Andreas Miko can get them, since he has used them. Incon may have them. There are a few Australian places that have them. If you look around on the internet, you can find charts with some of the specs for these turbos and ballpark pricing - pricing varies widely on these turbos from what I have seen. I would imagine that an aftermarket Garrett distributor could get you one. Jim Wolf is a Garrett distributor/something and may be a place to start looking.

Hell, you might just contact that place you posted and see if they will just sell you one before they modify it. They are obviously able to get them since they are selling them. :)
