Actually they do. But only at idle. Off idle you shouldn't know the difference.

because if the rpms i recall a cars ac unit to be capable of running up to 3 tons of cooling, thats about 36,000 btu/hr i think shouldnt be a problem to spin it a little slower. this only happens if you use the crank pulley.

When my A/C was working :( that is the only time I noticed that it was affected.

It's most noticable when idling on a hot day. Just "goose it up a few 100 rpms and you will run cooler", as Shell Black stated in his SE-R.net article.

I have the pullies and the JWT ECU with S3 program so my car idles at 1000. The AC is damn cold even while idling for a few minutes.

Tim I just got my JDM engine installed Tuesday. If you are possibly thinking of going with the pulleys go for it.
I installed the 2 pulley set on my new engine and I am really happy with them. I haven't seen any negetive affects from them, only positive.
