hey guys i joined the forum to learn more about this SE-R my best friends brother is wanting to sell. i'm not sure how much he's going to ask, but probably around $500 i'm guessing since it doesn't run and it's got a few problems.

known issues:
-bad radiator (the car overheats; not sure if thats the only reason it does because i don't think radiators just go bad out of the blue, may also be the t-stat)
-needs a new clutch line/cable (i looked around for a new one on the internet but couldn't find one, maybe someone could point me in the direction of a popular b13 parts vendor? :] )
-a/c needs to be recharged i believe, or it's missing a small component for it to work; nothing too major

what do you guys think? to fix all these things (maybe not the a/c), i'm sure i could get it done in a day or two, but i'm not sure how to replace a clutch cable. how hard is this job?

lets get some feedback! thanks

VERY easy to replace everything you've mentioned.

Clutch cables can be found on courtesyparts.com, or thru Gspec (vendor here).

PN is 30770-00004 and is ~$55 on courtesyparts.com. Takes about 15~20 minutes of your time to replace.

Would go with bad t-stat before radiator, but also could be fans not engaging?

A/C? Who needs A/C? :D

awesome, i appreciate your words.

hopefully i can pick up the car, my regular DD is down (mk3 supra N/A) and this would make a very nice DD if i can fix the A/C (light chassis ftw)

A/C? Who needs A/C? :D
You are gonna need it in El Paso or you're gonna sweat your nuts off all summer.

Summer in El Paso being from February through November. .......

New Guy, buy the car. All that ish is easy to fix. You'll quickly fall in love with it when you get it running right. And at that price, it is hard to lose on the proposition.

Plus Classics are sure chick magnets, make your man-parts bigger, and will soon be Collectors Items worth tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars.

OK. Never mind that last statement.

However, you'll love the car. :biggthump

oh wow i just noticed all the people in this thread are from texas.

i'm in houston, and during the summer A/C is a MUST. if i pick this car up i'll definitely be getting the a/c working

i probably won't be modding the car much, i'll be too busy saving the money for my supra (hopefully turn it into a bad little drifter)

That is a strange Texas coincidence.

BTW, there are actually two (2) aftermarket modifications that will increase the AC capabilities in your vehicle. The first is a two-peice set of Unorthodox Racing underdrive pullies, the second is a set of high-powered 12" radiator/ac fans.

Let me see if I can find the thread:

Bingo. Those guys can tell you why these modifications help out your AC. I am not real mechanically inclined.

I can tell you that both modifications made a significant difference in my AC. Together they really made a huge improvement over OEM.

Hope that helps.

hey guys i'm back; i called the guy about the car and he wanted around $1500 for the car.. i think that is just way too much for a car of that age and condition with those problems, so if i can't get him to lower the price significantly i won't be joining you guys! :[

we'll see how things go
