: Clutch Slipping??

Hey guys I was just wondering what is wrong with my car THIS time...

On the way to Blockbuster, I notice that I am going 45mph in 4th gear....at over 6000rpms. I can also floor it in 5th gear, and get the rpms to rise to the rev limit, but with no increase in speed. This is IN GEAR remember, not neutral. Also I notice that if I let the RPM's drop to "normal" and then reapply gas SLIGHTLY, I can get some speed going. Is this my clutch slipping? I've never had this problem before, so I don't really know what to diagnose it as. If it is the clutch slipping....does this mean I have to get a new one? Thanks in advance.

I would try clutch cable adjustment first, otherwise it is your clutch.

Ok thanks. Um...how is this adjustment made. I was searching through the past threads and someone suggested this for a similar problem also. I think this may be the problem anyway, as it was very sudden. Its like I turned the car off and 10 minutes later back on, and upon driving it started slipping CRAZY. So...how can I check to see if its the "clutch cable?" (is that what its even called???)

Thanks
