: Blown Clutch
Black93 07-10-2002, 08:22 PM It happened. I launched at crazy 4K rpms on my azenis and to my dismay they didnt spin. didnt even chirp. Its painfull to think about.
It seems as though it grabs hard as a mofo between gears but its not a smooth engagement. did i fry the poor thing or what??? is my flywheel gonna be scored?

playatx99 07-10-2002, 11:17 PM same symptoms of back when i scorched my 89k pressure plate.... damn thing chattered like a 6puck, but would lay a nice 3rd gear chirp.... when i got it apart, the disc and flywheel were fine, but the pressure plate was pretty badly hotspotted(blued)

Easy cheesy, Robert: 115+ launches at the dragstrip, combined with about 40 autocrosses, in a two-year span.
I can't complain, though. I definitely got my money's worth out of that clutch. :)

Crono1321 07-11-2002, 12:23 AM This has just happened to me yesterday as well. Oh well, no more header to buy, now I have to get a new clutch :(. I don't want to take away from the post, but can anyone tell me all the parts that will need replacing so I know what to buy. Any suggestions on where to get a "cheap" ACT, also? Thanks a million guys, and sorry Black93 for taking away from your post
eliterit 07-11-2002, 05:29 AM same thing happened here, except i had brand new RE730s. wheels didnt spin at all when i was at the track. went limpin' home. turned out that i scored the flywheel and the clutch disc was already to the rivets.
NismoNx2000 07-11-2002, 09:04 AM Well, it just so happens that ill be replacing my clutch this friday. I decided to go with the 2001 se disk from courtesy nissan, and the key value (Daikin) complete clutch kit from www.nissan-accessories.com...altogether it cost me about 160 bucks. The complete clutch kit comes with the disk, pressure plate and throwout bearing. However, ill be using the disk from courtesy instead.
Monsoon 07-11-2002, 11:16 AM i've got a clutch and pressure plate that are 3000 miles old now. i should be set for a little while. ;)
Se-Racer 07-11-2002, 11:48 AM I broke my clutch 2 weeks ago also, a spring in the disc broke off the plate, so my clutch would not dissengauge so i could change gears(which made for a interesting drive home)but all is well now since the clutch was under warrenty.

Talk about scortched , my pp, and flywheel looked like someone had helt a torch up to it till it got red and then did it all over again.
I can't believed it held till I done the swap.

Katana200sx 07-12-2002, 12:41 AM my ACT has about 3000 miles on it as well. i got the stage 1 bc my car is not heavily modded and its a ga16:rolleyes: , and i plan on doing a swap asap. i ordered it from www.nipponpower.com . great customer service there.
LogicalRetard 07-12-2002, 12:28 PM What's the big deal about the '01 SE discs?

they have a much beefier center section and are double sprung and just much more durable in general.
