: Clutch pedal or cable?

So I get in the car this morning... it's about 37* out.

Start the car and push the clutch pedal in... it does not come back immediately.

I could take my whole foot off the pedal and it stayed there for a second or two.

Then it snapped back rather abruptly.

I blew the cable out and snapped the cable release arm off the tranny a few years ago. They had to disassemble the pedal and put in a new arm in the tranny.

Ever since then it the pedal has been squeaky and a little notchy. The new cable is an Autozone one and not OEM.

So my question is... could this problem be the cable binding or is it more related to the pedal assembly itself? OEM Nissan equivalent clutch, no heavy duty ones for me anymore and Fidanza flywheel.

Cable could need adjustment or replacement, but if the throwout bearing on the clutch runs out of grease, the clutch pedal will not return well either.

That happened to me a few times and I figured out it was just getting stuck on the floor mat. :)

Sounds like the cable is frayed and catching... seems like the OEM one's last a bit longer than the other options out there.

Worked wonders for my cable that was returning slow. Oh, and the best part is you don't have to take the cable out to lube it.
