: Yay for me!
SpacemanSpiffNF 07-11-2002, 04:05 PM Well, just when I find this/ and other webistes on the NX and start to get interested in fixing up my car, I get into an accident. BAH! There was structural damage to the car so its being totalled. No car and no more NX........I 'm not quite sure how they're (ths insurance company) is going to handle, and if I'm going to still have the car for parts, but if I do get to keep it, I'll tell you guys and and you guys can have whatever parts off it that you want (for a small small price, I've VERY poor). It is/was a 1993 NX2000, manual, electric blue, in pretty good condition. Does anyone know how insurance companies deal with that? Do they give you the blue book value for the car and let you keep it or do they take it and junk it? Does anyone know the blue book value for it and how much I'm going to get screwed over? I payed $6000 for it about 21 months ago (80,000 miles on it). It now has 125,000 miles on it. Thanks.
wilde cherry 07-11-2002, 07:23 PM Sorry to hear about your car, I had a guy t-bone me a few years ago in my dodge colt. It was a write off / total loss. I'm in B.C., Canada though but here are some tips from me!
Start searching the web like a mad fool, find all the nx2000's (preferably '93's) for sale in your area that you can, print out only the highest priced ones.
When you talk Mr. Insurance Man, tell him that you are absolutely in love with that car specifically, tell him any mods you put on it and tell him you babied it (changed the oil more often than recomended, kept it clean, in top condition, etc.
Tell Mr. I that you absolutely must replace it with an identical car, slap your ten or so adds in front of him (with their astronomical prices and argue your ass off that you need the higher priced amount to replace it. NEVER tell him what you paid, go for the home run amount because it worked for me, I was offered $3400 to replace mine and then I did that and got $6700 in the end!
Sr20kidD 07-11-2002, 09:20 PM i want the seat rails and am willing to pick them up.. these would be for a friend.. but yea.. i think your going have to buy back from the insurance.. maybe like 500 dollars or so.. you need to talk to the adjuster
aka focus 07-12-2002, 07:38 AM I need the center console. The section that has the storage compartment.
Thanks Sorry to hear about your NX.

coach 07-12-2002, 09:45 AM same thing happened to a guy here in michigan with a 93 se-r. My buddy bought the wrecked car off of him as a parts car but he still wants the AD22V calipers and stuff for the upgrade on his 92se-r. If you can rip those off there I am sure he will be interested. If your car has ABS, then he will take the rears also as the rears on an ABS NX are also larger from what I read.

jokergrin 07-12-2002, 09:57 AM man that really sucks. I hope you are able to find another nx. It's a shame an electric blue one got destroyed...those are the coolest color.

Yeah, and also very rare. I think there were only a few hundred 93's made and very few were blue.
santo51 07-13-2002, 05:00 PM hey im sorry about the car accident. dont let the legacy of the blue NX die. get a new NX. can you spare one of the hatch pegs? you know the pegs that the strings to the hatch cover hook onto. one of mine broke. and how are your lift supports? if they are any good let me know, PM me. good luck
SpacemanSpiffNF 07-13-2002, 06:22 PM Ok, heres an update on the car situation. My insurance guy just told me that I do have the choice of having them fix the car or having them total it because the the cost to repair it is about the same as how much they would pay me for the car, and then I would pay 10-20% of what they pay me for the car so that I can keep it for you guys. While I want to keep it, I'm worried about future suspension and rear axle problems because my back right wheel is bent at an angle, and I got kicked around pretty good by the other car. After I talk to the guy at the autobody shop about the chances for future problems with the car, and I talk to my insurance guy on how much I would be getting for it if I did decide to total itand how much I will need to pay to keep the car, I'll then make my choice. If I do decide to total it but don't deside to keep it, I do have a anti-sway bar, some decent rims (kinda scratched up, but I've gotten a lot of comments on them), a stillen shortshifter that I still haven't installed yet, and a nice sounding exhaust tip. I'll get back to you all when I know more. What I do know is that I will have to charge something for parts for you guys because I will have to throw down some money to keep the car. Sorry.
santo51 07-14-2002, 09:18 AM thats cool. i think we all expected that you would have to charge us. good luck with the insurance bull sh*t.
SpacemanSpiffNF 07-22-2002, 11:37 PM Alright, here's the update. My car is going to be totaled, and I'm getting $4300 for it. Not as much as I payed but a lot more then I was originally was told. I let my friend take some parts off of it that he needed but besides that I'm letting it go. I don't have the time to pull off $600-900 worth of parts just so I can make up for what I will have to pay to get it back from the insurance company. I did however take my rims, strut tower bar off, and I still have the original stock rims.
Rims: DTM Racing Wheels 15x65/43
Motorsports Technologies Battle Type
- They are alittle scratched up from curbs, but they are very nice looking rims, and I've gotten a lot of compliments on them, even though they're only 15" rims.
I also have a unused Stillen short throw shifter that I never got the chance to install.
If you are interested in buying any of these parts PM me.
If there's anything else that you might want from the car and you live in the San Luis Obispo area PM and I can find out what salvage yard they're going to take it to. The car and engine are in pretty good condition, run perfect, and I would want to get it fixed but the insurance company went ahead and said no, its going to be totaled...oh well.
sakerocket1 07-23-2002, 04:00 PM ahhh young grasshopper it is the saphire blue that are the rarest. It was once told to me by a reliable old timer that only 12 were made in saphire blue.
SpacemanSpiffNF 07-26-2002, 10:27 PM Update on car. Instead of it going to the junk yard my friend who has a NX2000 bought it from me for parts (Salvage title)for the salvage price, but he told me that he would get online and offer available parts to you. I hope you all enjoy your NX's and it was good talking to you guys for the small amount of time that I was here at the forum. Later
