K! I fired up my DET today and went for a long drive. :) The only thing is that the temp gauge started to rise all the way to H about 20 min of driving. I turned on the heater to try help dissipate the heat from the engine but to no avail.

Needless to say I had to full over and let it cool off (with engine on) but the needle never went down, heater still on. Waited for about 15 to 20 minutes and then decided to just head home. Nothing happen though, at least I don't think so, got home to the garage and pop the hood open. Everything seems to be normal overflow is empty.

Water pump was replace before the DET install.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Did your fans kick on? Are you sure you're not leaking coolant?

No coolant leaks and both fans were on. :(

Did you properly bleed the system after the install?

When's the last time you changed the coolant? My 98 SE with turbo was overheating in 110 degree weather in Phoenix on my honeymoon because it had the original coolant in it. I'd flush and fill, refill with 50/50 mix of distilled water and coolant, use Water Wetter, and get a 300ZXTT 16psi radiator cap and see what happens.

Is this swap done in a Classic Sentra or 200sx....cause if it is done in a 200sx which is 95 and up, you're gauge cluster could be getting the wrong signals from the motor. I don't know the specifics of it, but something to do with impedince of an internal sender. Change the 2 JDM senders to USDM ones by the way. Cause the earlier BB version engines won't work with the 200sx clusters. You could either do 1 of 2 things, change the entire cluster to an earlier version cluster (like Boosted Sleeper did), or install an Autometer Water Temp gauge (like i did). My temp guage would be all the way to the top at times, but after the autometer install...my baby runs cool as the other side of the pillow. Peace!

Hi Guys!

I did not flush the system. I guess I'll be doing it when I get home. Does anybody know the proper precedure of how to do it? I'll start from here and see if it helps.

The car is a 91 Sentra SE-R.

Thanks!

You don't necessarily need to flush the system, but you absolutely must bleed the system. Instructions are on SE-R.net or at http://www.zotz.com (follow the Nissan link to maintenance procedures).

Also, the SR20 has two water temp sending units. One is for the ECU which has a red plastic plug. It's the same for the USM SR20 and the JDM SR20 (including DET). However, the single spade connector sending unit should be changed. It will cause your gauge to read incorrectly.

K! Bled the system and since I was there anyway totally flush the system and replace it with new coolant and water, 50/50. Took it out for about 10 minute drive and no overheating. Gauge reads normal! :D

Left the car running while park for about another 5 minutes and then went for another 10 minute drive, still normal. :D Left the car running for about 15 minutes shut the engine off. I'm happy guys!!! THANK YOU.

I just have to fix the suspension now. Something is making a thumping noise in the front. I was advice that it might be the nut for the strut not being tight. My suspension is custom made by shocktek and I have a GC camber plates. Here's the pic of my engine bay. (http://www.nissannx.info/images/front.gif)

After I troubleshoot this suspension problem I will be taking her out for a loooong ride and I let you all know what the outcome is.
