Can I remove it? how important is it.
Lets just say I wasnt going to drive the car on the street *cough cough* and I wasnt concerned with emissions equipment.
Can I remove it? If yes, what needs plugging up or changing?
Thanks, James

You know I was wandering the same thing.
It doesn't look like it would hurt to remove it but then again I don't know it's exact operation.
Let me know if you find anything out .

I am pretty sure you wanna leave it alone. I do believe it "filters" fumes from the fuel system...

Agreed. It stores the fumes from the fuel, and then burns them off when the car is running. It dosen't hurt performance at all, and isn't emissions related. I wouldn't touch it either.

I'm not trying to be evil and make the world a dirtier place, I'm just trying to get as much OUT of my engine bay as possible.
I'll leave it there then. Might put the DET one in.. its smaller hehe

I took it off. No ill effects yet.
depending on how you remove it, it can cause excess pressure in the gas tank from fumes not being removed from the system. If its left just straight open, can allow nasty stuff access to your tank.
The "proper" way to remove it is to put a checkvalve on the fume vent tube.
Honestly, I just chucked it into the garbage on my Z, havn't had any ill effects yet.
