Any one changed or had there a-pillars repaired? Are the a-pillars available threw Nissan? Nice NX2000 in Fitchburg body is straight as an arrow except for the pillars. Just wondering what it would cost to fix.

Funny, my C Pillars behind my rear wheel are rusting on the left side.

i have tiny little bubbles starting on my driver side a-pillar. i took it to several shops and the cheapest estimate i got was 500.00.

that was to weld metal in/grind/fill/prime/paint. they also said that they see that problem on other cars. the only way to fix or prevent it is to drill a hole behind the door seal a they pump some type of a non-drip greasey foam substance into the entire a-pillar.

seemed every place i took it to was hesitant to want to do it.

It's common in the northern states. It can be fixed. Pull the front windshield out. Pull off all the trim. Have body man grind away the rust and fill it in with mud. (bondo). If it's real bad have him weld in some metal.

I found a little bit of rust on my hatch! on the top part along the edge... Will it keep spreading and get worse?

If you just grind and bondo I would think the problem would resurface fairly soon? The rust is forming from the inside out. JMO

I've had both of mine replaced. You need to buy a new apillar, have the old pillar hacked in half, weld the new one in. You can't use Bondo, or weld in fresh metal, it won't work.

Including parts, paint, labour, from Nissan (I mean a Nissan dealer, YMMV), an NX2000 apillar is $700 Canadian per side.

To determine how bad the rust is, look at the base of the windshield. If you see any bubbling under the glass there, the rust has spread from the apillar, and will eventually crack the windshield, and you'll also have to remove old metal and weld in fresh metal there as well too.

I have pictures of my car being repainted posted on this forum, but I'm too busy to find them right now. Search for my username, thread is called "repainting" or something.

If you really want to see how bad it is, pull off the windshield trim - my guess is you'll be shocked. I was. Mine had been half-ass repaired with some replacement steel and bondo.

I left it like that because I have a feeling I'll need to reshell my car sooner or later anyway.

Kind of what I figured. To do it right you have to cut out the a-pillars. At 700 a side, I hope mine hold up. So far no rust and I want to keep it that way.

900 is still a good chunk of change. The hardest part is finding a shop that is willing to do work like this. And do it the correct way.


Main reason I was asking nice 91 down the street body is great but the a-pillars are toast.
