I don't want to seem like a dick, but check the faq, or just do a search of this forum. I know this question has been asked and answered mulitple of times.

Aren't the blocks stamped different 53c vs. 54c. Different crank bearings, different main cap bolts, head bolts, valves? I don't want to post anything as fact since I do not know for sure. Any confirmations on any of this?

the sunny engine has about 240 hp, while the bb has about 210.

Yes, but I believe it's 53J vs. 54C. The 54C block is externally different in several ways from the 53J block (which is the same block most US SR20DEs have), but I don't know how. Frankly, there isn't much sense to using an 'R block vs. a BB block, as an 'R is too complicated to make it's base power increase worth the hassle. In other words, you can still make a BB faster for less money than an 'R, not to mention replacement internal parts of an 'R are a BITCH to get ahold of in North America.

I've been told that, too. I've pretty much come to conclusion that I'll just start with a BB instead. Less money to buy, install, and work on, plus you can build the difference of power with the left over money you saved from buying the BB.

Don't forget the GTi-R MAF can meter more air than the BB maf. Meaning you can make more power before u have to look for some kind of air metering solution.

If you're not 100% ready to spend $6000 on a $3000 car, you have no business even playing around with the idea of getting a turbocharger. Go back and play at the kiddie table with the $600 nitrous oxide systems and your $300 chrome air intake kits.

Speed costs money; how fast do you want to go? No, I don't have a turbocharger on my car. No, I don't have immediate plans to put one on my current car. If I had either one, though, I wouldn't be bitching about a $100 service fee so that the ECU knows WTF my new MAF is supposed to read.

I hope that wasn't directed toward me!!!! One im already boosted...two that thing about the MAF wasn't for me it was to help answer the original question three i wasn't bitchin and 4 you have to get a JWT ECU to pay only 100 to get it reprogrammed so it's more then 100 bucks pal
