: My P10 was a victim last night... :(
gTeknikal 11-10-2007, 07:28 PM I had to do some club photography last night in Downtown LA and of course took the G. Underestimating the sweetness of my ride, I parked in the usual spot out on the street where I would normal park my old B13, which is in much worse shape than my G is and with all due respect, it's just a Sentra. As my friend and I are walking back to the car, I find myself a nice little surprise...

There used to be two 12" Cerwin Vega subs and an amp in there...

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v223/gteknikal/brokenwindow5.jpg
So not only was my head unit (which was actually a very nice "old school" Pioneer 8600 that has gone through a B13, a B14, an Accord, and now my P10), and my subs and amp gone, but they also took an Ipod that wasn't even mine and my friend's jacket (I guess they wanted something nice for their girlfriend...)
Looks like when the alarm went off, they went to disconnect the battery and the dumb sh*ts didn't realize the trunk was electric. They ripped out the rear center armrest trying to open it that way and no luck. So they decided to puncture a hole in my trunk. What am I suppose to do about this now? Am I going to have to replace the entire lid or can I have a body shop repair that?
Asides from the fact that we love our cars as much as we do, what is most upsetting is the fact that I went out to work this club last night due to the fact that I'm absolutely broke because LAUSD is still having major issue with their payroll system and thousands of teachers are not getting paid, me being one of them. So I need to do little side jobs like club photography that probably only pays me enough for a tank a gas and food on the table for the week, but instead, I had to pay $70 for the back window this morning, plus having to buy a new headunit, replace my friend's ipod and fix my trunk. I was actually planning on picking up a pair of front AGXs this morning, since my shocks are gone to hell, but looks like it's going to have to wait some time now.
Looking at things on a positive tip, I'm glad that the actual car was still there and that they didn't really care much about the car and take things like my primera grille, JDM corners, or even my greddy muffler! But I'm most thankful that the stupid fu*ks weren't able to remove my quick release wheel, becaues I think it would have been quite the task to drive home without a steering wheel...
Anyway, my concerns now are:
-What can I do about my trunk?
-Is there a way to run a seperate power source to an alarm so it can still make noise even though the battery has been disconnected?
-Should I even bother making a police report? At the time, I didn't feel that I should even bother.
Overall, I'm happy I still have my G, stereo equipment can be replaced, and most importantly, KARMA IS A BITCH...
Thank you all for letting me vent... :(
dxpxe 11-10-2007, 07:42 PM maybe a sperate smaller bike battery or something mounted with some high voltage/amperage fuses under your seator in your glove?
just a suggestion for your next radio, run fresh razor blades along the side of your radio sticking up past the edge just enouch to get the guy, garauntee you he'll stop there, break your window and leave because he wont have time to cut your battery cable with cut up fingers

HAHA! Damn, that sounds like some serious shit right there. Have you actually attempted to do this before? Any photos?
Salvisol82 11-10-2007, 08:10 PM Yeah man it sucks. I can relate. I was in nyc last year on my to Atlanta from 8 months in Canada.
I was hanging out with this old flame of mine. Date was going well. I parked my car in downtown Manhattan. Not even a bad neighborhood. I had a couple of things in the car, which was my mistake. I should have taken the tv set out the back seat before i headed into manhattan. You know driving a beater b13 I wasn't really that paranoid about it getting stolen.
So we are walking back to the car, and I notice something wrong. Some jackass or jackasses pulled my drivers door lock out of the door. The assholes then proceeded to open the trunk but instead of being gentle with the trunk release they manhandled it and somehow ripped the plastic off the metal handle.
Well all this chaos was for a case that said porter cable on it. All the case had in it was jumper cables. The retards went through the trouble of forcing open my door and fawking up my trunk release just to get some jumper cables. They ignored the tv and ps2 that were also in the car.
Needless to say I was infuriated. Even though it was relatively minor it put me in kill mode. I really wanted to beat the crap out of douchebag/douchebags.
I literally told my date that I hope those fuckers get it back. I lost it. I told her I wished they got hit by a car and had their heads crushed by the wheels. I feel bad for thinking that now because it wasn't like my life was in danger. I was just infuriated because they messed with my car and two I was powerless to do anything about it. Sucks those assholes had to ruin a good night out with this girl. Everything went well up till that point.
I like the razor blade idea ;).

plus if they are cut up, chances are they will leave blood and a dna sample can be run through the NCIC database and if its a career criminal his dna will match and he will be arrested. though personally i rather have an "American Me" knife jam from under the seat if the alarm is going off and he/she is sitting there stealing my stereo.
try to explain that one to the police hehe.
KdubL 11-10-2007, 11:44 PM That F*ckin sucks bro...hey, it could be worse. Keep your head up!
Setzer 11-10-2007, 11:51 PM DEI makes battery backups for alarms, powers the alarm and triggers it if it signal is lost from the main battery.
XxToKeSxX 11-11-2007, 12:37 AM Man, I've been in your situation before... and I feel your pain.
Since I was 17 I have had my car broken into a grand total of 14 times... 9 of those times damage was done... and everytime no matter what it still hurt just the same.
The result... I don't do stereo equipment anymore, no subs, no nothing... i stay stock faces if I can. The vision of seeing my cars damaged, from some dipshit that can't work for what he has instead of stealing someone elses, those many times was enough for me. I'm talking on one of my cars I had 5 of the 6 windows broken at one point. Bricks thrown through rear windows, scredrivers pried through the dash and glove compartment, keyholes stripped, leather seats torn and broken just to get to the trunk, RRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrr let me stop before I get pissed off.
Anyway, the only thing you can do is be more prepared this time. If you think something is worth locking in your car, take it inside with you.
I'll be damned if someone breaks into my nissans, they f'd all my fords, and my mazda's.... on liability.
As for your questions... take the trunk to a body shop and get it quoted... if the price is too high, see if you can snag a new trunk and replace locking assembly with the donor car's if its not too damaged.
I don't mean to sound pessimistic, but an alarm isn't the best deterent IMHO... If people want whats in your car, they will work around what they need to to get it... even if that means destroying more on your car than they initially had to without the deterrent.
Always file a police report so its on record... You probably already know that they probably will send someone out to get prints, but most likely they will do nothing after that. One time there was even a knife left in my car from the ass hole that ripped me off... but they didn't even take it in at all.
Sorry if I sound like an ass hole, but I really just despise criminals that vandalize other people property... its just one of those things that gets under my skin...
I wish you all the best of luck... and I hope that this doesn't happen again to your G.
Stupid lowlife vandals can eat a cheney.
TommyD241 11-11-2007, 01:10 AM Damn. That sucks dude. I always thought theives would be turned off from stealing decks from our cars because they have to go through all that molding around the Head Units. Apparently, I stand corrected. Im sorry that happened to you.
gTeknikal 11-11-2007, 12:29 PM Thank you all for the violent ideas, especially the "American Me" knife jam!
Salvisol82, I too had to bring myself back to reality and calm the hell down, since my sentiments were about the same as yours and my friend was getting a little frightened! I had to remind myself, "at least I have a car to drive home."
And Tokes, I feel you on the numerous break-ins. Just this year, they broke into the B13 TWICE, in front of my house, DURING THE DAY! The first time, they took my IPOD, which I completely blame myself for, since I left it on the vent mount because I was only going to be a minute before I left again. A minute was enough time, especially when I leave the door unlocked! What a dumbass...
The second time, was much worse, as they took my backpack. Why these dumb little shits would want a bag full of counseling books, and a couple 5th grade teacher's manuals, and a scientific calculator, I don't know. Not only did I lose hundreds of dollars in textbooks, but all my current coursework, as well as a good year's worth of coursework in a flash drive I had in my bag as well.
So I figured I've learned from these experiences and do make sure I leave NOTHING in sight. I hide the ipod cable, the face stuffed away under the seat, and nothing else in view. But obviously, it wasn't good enough.
There's just no way I could be able to stay stock. I'm just way too much of a music snob, and have to listen to my music in a particular way. I am not one to be bumping loud anymore, as I'm much too old for that now, and practically turn my music off whenever I'm getting ready to park wherever I'm going. I guess there's only so much prevention for this type of situation.
As far as the trunk, the guys on the G20 boards gave me the idea of just have the key hole completely removed. It actually wouldn't mind doing that, but only leaves me with the concern of not having a manual release.
dxpxe 11-11-2007, 01:28 PM maybe you can rig a latch inside the rear bumper kinda under the car. just drop the release cable strait through a small hole that you may have to drill and then put like... a rusty inconspicious bolt on it as a "handle"

our radios are very very easy to get out. not a deterant at all when all you have to do is rip some plastic up in one swift pull then remove 4 screws and cut some shit.

it looks like you have a pass through behind your rear arm rest. it wouldnt be very difficult at all to rig up a second release useing some steal cable, run it through a piece of brake line, D-ring as a handle.........you could put a storm door spring on the line somewere so it stretches when you open the trunk all the way.........i dont know, but just get creative so you would have a manual backup incase your electric poper take a crap.

Unfortunately, I'm not THAT ingenuitive to make up such a rig, but sounds like a great idea. How about you make it for me?? :biggthump

lol..........buy seriously, get some steel cable from home depot and figure out a way to attach it to the lock.......any place that lifts the release is just peachy. then get some brake line and bend as needed and run behind the trunk finishers. then toss a d-ring on the end as a small handle...... what you doing is makeing something like a really long clutch cable. cable in the middle and the brake line secured to the trunk body so it wont move and act as a sort of "track" for the cable. everything you would need to do this project could all be found in the same isle at home depot save the brake line and a few zip ties to secure the tubeing to the interior body.
dxpxe 11-11-2007, 07:16 PM if theres anyone someone should idleize its maguyver.
can rig up a lot of stuff to work very cleverly if you just use what you got or have a local hope depot to browse around in. Best part is then its unique and hidden which makes it harder to break into.
then i forgot about another deterent i put in my car, for when they rip the seat backing right off or bend the FU** out of the corner to get through. I have a nice strong peice of 3/4 ply starring them in there face. It used to hold 2 10 inch subs but i left it for security and it has worked.
though that time i hadnt had the razor blades on that radio because i was just happy to finally have a radio in the car after 3 months i was just too lazy after wiring it up with solder and everything all shrink wrapped and nicey nice GRRRRRR now im pissed that i had to do that twice. Anyway you can bet your arse that theres blades on there now and i make sure to turn my radio down a block before i park anywhere

Lol I get called mcguyver all the time, used to piss me off but now, whatever. And alarms can be VERY effective, just have to think it through.
