: Upset with my times...

I just got home from the track. It was fukin packed so I only managed two runs. This was my first time out on drag radials. My setup was:

-T25 @ 18psi
-116 Octane mixed with 93
-3'' downpipe to 2.25'' cat-back
-N60 MAF
-370cc @ 4 bar
-Calum ecu
-2.25'' hot/cold piping with FMIC

The first time was:

R/T .621
60' 2.117
1/4 13.791
MPH 88.96

The car was pulling strong then an intercooler pipe shot off half way down the track so I coasted by the traps.

Second run I took off the cat completely and ran open downpipe. The results were:

R/T .571
60' 2.245
1/4 13.550
MPH 103.04

I had 225/45/14 BFG DR's mounted on NX wheels. There was no passenger/rear seats and a gutted trunk. Tire pressure was set to about 22psi up front with 30psi in the rear. I was launching somewhere around 4,500 - 5,000rpm's.

I know I am maxing out the T25 but I was trying to see what she would lay down on high boost with a little 116 in the mix. I was hoping to see some 12's but the car would not hook up first, second, and half of third. Must of been the track I guess because a lot of cars were breaking today. I just don't get how my traps have not increased from my old times with 2''DP and massive boost leaks on bullshit street tires.:(

wow those looks like some stock t25 tmic stock boost runs...

go through everything with a fine tooth comb, this set up has problems. you should deff be trapping 110s

has this set up ever been on the dyno. i dont think its breaking 210whp

is a t25 even efficient at 18 psi?

Its way out of efficiency but honestly, you can feel a difference. I added the extra 116 octane just to help keep detonation to a minimum. I need to pull the plugs. The car was detonating on the drive home when near 15psi.

The car has not been on a dyno with the current setup and I doubt it will hit the dyno. I am thinking of a nice gt28rs, cams, and maybe a little squeeze. I just was completly upset with the trap speeds. I trapped 105 with my old TMIC.

i heard it was a sea of cars and cold as F&*k out there. was there a headwind as well?

Bes,
I took the t25 on its last journey for kicks before upgrade on 13 lbs last saturday I went 13.71 and a best trap of 106.52mph... on some bull shit hard azenis & went back to top mount too. There's no reason you shouldn't have been faster than that with the radials. Did you warm them up at all? Maybe played with the tire pressure a little.

Turbo upgrades are never bad... :deal:

The t25 spools up too fast man... I see you were having probs down the 60 like I did as well. It's like a fine line between letting off/loosing built boost, or spinning like a mad man and loosing time. Sucks.

good sixty foot times compared to what you can get at lebanon.

gotta love a prepped track...

I netted a 2.15 60' on my bullshit junkyard tires up at lebanon. There was an asshole in an evo who blew up and drove down the whole strip dripping oil. They took an hour just to clean up the lane which I was in. I warmed up the tires pretty damn nice on my last run roasting the hell out of them in the water box. I hit a 13.5 with my TMIC and 2'' open downpipe on 13psi before. Not sure what is up. First and second gear feel crazy because you just hear the DR's screaming for traction. Third felt alright but it just didn't have a huge pull on it. I am thinking my FMIC might have a hole in the back of it because I bottomed out on the way and one of the bolts may have poked into it. IDK guys. Turbo upgrade is definately in the works.

I really think your exhaust was choking it. I mean I somehow managed 109 and 110 mph traps out of my t25 @ 12psi, cold weather, open dp, and 110 octane. I also think that the 18psi is maybe helping in like 1st and 2nd gear but, probably killing your 3rd and 4th gear's?? This is all speculation of course.

I was also thinking turbo upgrade but, a t25 is cheap and a very good daily driver @10psi and pretty damn good at the track @ 12-15psi with a very wide open exhaust and a good tune.

I am thinking the calum ecu is not helping it to full potential. Its a great cheap ecu for daily driving the t25 but I am going to be upgrading to the realtime.

The car would hit 18psi and slow drop to 12psi by redline.

It is a 3'' open downpipe so I don't think it is choking it really, or is it?

I think I might take it back to the track one more time before the track shuts down. I need to pressure test the system to check for boost leaks. I think my BOV might be leaking but I am not sure. Sometimes I can run the car without the recirculation tube and it will run/idle smooth and you don't feel any air coming out of the BOV when its just idling. Then other times it will die right away and you feel the air being vented out.

I would still lower the psi to 15 max, and I don't know alot about calum ecu's but I would try a jwt instead.....just my 2 cents and i am in know way saying that the calum ecu's are bad:)

and definitely pressure test, because it does sound like something may be wrong with your bov.

I think the JWT would be nice but I am thinking of the realtime because I know someone locally who works with it very well and have been getting amazing results from it.

My boy was out there in his Avenir swapped classic with a VERY similar setup except he had a 2'' downpipe to a 2.5'' (maybe 3'') VRS exhaust. Both cars idle the same and just are so damn alike besides mine being a regular jdm de motor. His car went 13.9 @ 104 spinning into third gear. He had his car I think on 15-17psi. I had to boost up so high because I saw how blckse-r had some good results which net him 290whp/340wtq and a 12.1@112 on DR's. I didn't even expect a time like his but was definately thinking a 12 would be possible.

Yea the last run i had at 15psi Bes. I was very dissapointed also but i think my problems are with the stock downpipe & the fact that no traction owns me. I was hoping your last run would have broke 12's but hey we will make some moves soon.

I've been thinking about this thing all day. Not sure what the hell could be making me run slower times now than I did before.

I made the mistake of not throwing in a set of fresh plugs but the car did not seem to detonate one bit at the track.

I wish I set the BFG's a little low to 15-18psi, might have hooked harder.

I am planning on throwing in a lighter weight flywheel very soon.

I am also thinking of unbolting the A/C compressor. Wouldn't be bad to drop some weight from that bitch.:D

Any ideas of what I could do to improve the times. I am not planning to give up on this turbo until it hits some nice 12 second times.

I got his ecu:cool: (traded for my nitrous kit) and I am trapping @110 on 12psi so I am hoping that 15 psi and slicks will net me a low 12@112. I think it may be a freak ecu:D

I got some ideas in hand. I am planning to go back in possibly a week or two. I need to make some changes and pressure test the car. I had more fun on the ride home than I did at the track bro. We need to get out there on a test and tune night. Kevin has my mind soaked with ideas of big boost but I want to see what I can do with this setup.
