where have people put oil coolers on their nx? i have a FMIC and i just cant find anywhere to put it. i dont want to cut my front bar between the headlights, but if i had to i would be ok with cutting the bottom lip section of the bar.
heres my car

if anyone could post up pics of theirs or any ideas that would b awsome

I.m planning on putting mine in the passenger fender/spoiler area in front of the wheel well and then use ducting.
I dont have the windshield washer fluid reservoir or intercooler piping in that area so it makes for a good bit of space

why not on the left or right of the intercooler ? where the piping is run.

Essentially, thats the same area...
I chose to go further back into the fender area to protect it from road debris and if need be I can mount a small fan on the back and duct the front much like a mid/rear engine car so air flow is ideal

If you are using your fans as pullers or using the stock fans, and also dont have an a/c condesor you can fit a very large cooler between your i/c and radiator.

I would be worried about some heat transfer from the oil cooler to the radiator in more extreme situations when oil temps exceed a/c refrigerant temps as the heat source from the radiator and oil is a common system.
On the other hand it all depends on ambient temps and how hard you are running the car if the car will ever be road raced...

I have road raced without an oil cooler with my turbo nx with no problems. But that was on my stock engine which i diddnt care about. This was on a 80 degree day running 3 30min sessions per day at a 2 day event.
I am not saying mount it to the radiator, if you have like a b&m cooler or a long brand cooler like the one in the go fast depot kit(Its like 3/4in thick) it can be bolted to the front of the lower radiator support and still have a few inches between the radiator and the cooler.

The oil cooler on a Conquest/Starion hangs right in front of the radiator, in a place that doesn't get any air coming inward from forward motion. When the fan is running it gets some air. Anyway, that's just FYI for you.
My boss has a 912 that has an oil cooler hanging in the fender well. It's just small, but he says it really makes a difference on hot days. It has a thermostat installed with it as well, which is nice to ensure your oil doesn't get too cool.

I have run quite a few events but on a 95+ degree day in high humidity and my oil temps went past 280 degrees really fast and that's pretty deep into the danger zone as passing 300 degrees will usually throw a rod pretty quickly.
I figure since the original poster is from Perth he will see temps around 35C or close to 95F (not sure about humidity)
Heat and high humidity effects heat transfer and cool air running from the oil cooler to the radiator will have repercussions in certain temperatures as oil temps can get to 240 easily and once the air pass thru the oil cooler it will hamper how much more heat it can absorb from the radiator, which may cause issues.
I'm going off of what most guys bring up in the road race section on these cars as they have a lot more time into the effects of heat on the SR20's

I didn't have the thread bookmarked that had the issues of the oil cooler in that location but it did have a negative effect on the radiator... but then as always it depends on the ambient temps more than anything.
a 912 is oil cooled so it would make a phenomenal difference having an additional oil cooler. I work with/mod Porsche's and they make killer cooling systems since the 996 some models use 3 radiators and with an 11 quart oil capacity they are pretty impressive.
