No, D/P does not have an HKS GT28. It is a T28, and it does have ball bearings, but it is a new Garrett design. From what I can tell, the family it's built from is not on the market yet. Rob has said, time and time again, that the new family won't be released for some time to come. Frankly, I'd be amazed if they were on the market by Christmas.

then what is the closest thing to it on the market. is the GT2835 the "best" t28 you can buy at the moment. where could i get a '28 with the s14 housing and whatnot

Talk to Andreas Miko or any other number of high-volume importer/swappers about getting an 'R manifold with it's turbo. I hear Andreas has sold 'R manifolds and T28s for under $1000 (which is less than an HKS GT2835, IIRC). As far as getting an S14 (or S15, because they're the same) compressor housing and adapter ring, I have no idea. I suppose that if you could find an S14/15 turbo whole, you'd have a source for the parts, too. ;) You may want to talk to SOKO or K. Watanabe to see if they have any lying around in partially-damaged form, since you're only interested in two parts from it.

i like my t25, dont get me wrong, but i need more. i want the D/P but i don't want to wait forever to get it. i just want a 28 with a little more kick than usual. i think a t3/t04 is a little much for everyday driving. what do you recommend Dren?

A heaping dose of patience. ;)

In the mean time, you may want to get your MAF bored (or get a bigger [ 300ZX or Cobra ] sensor), an adjustable fuel pressure regulator (to run your 370s at 4 bar of rail pressure), and have your ECU reprogrammed for these two mods. Well, reprogramming first, order the FPR, then have the MAF bored when everything else is ready. This will keep you ready when a bigger turbo becomes available.

A bigger turbo means more air, which has to be metered, and has to be compensated for with fuel. A DET is a great place to start, but the MAF and injectors top out a little quickly; don't expect more than 240 WHP with any control or reliability. Rising the fuel pressure effectively increases the flow rate of the injectors (to about 429 cc/m). Boring the MAF is pretty cheap, but it may be cheaper to get a Cobra MAF at these horsepower levels. Each modification will need to be handled by JWT, but if you make all of the changes at once, it will all cost the same $100 reprogramming fee.

in the mean time im gettin msd 50lbers, jwt rail, cobra maf, and a walbro. I've got a JUN ultra lite on the way, and I'm on the group buy for S4's. I'm also workin on a classic head to use on my DET. maybe that and 12psi will keep me happy. (also thinkin about the sr20dev fmic since you said i could use it on the "tater") anyway, thanx for the help;)

once you boost, you'll always wanna go higher when you get smoked by another turbo, or even worse a domestic. I have a ball bearing t03/04e and I love it, fast spool up, and has huge ammounts of power (capable of 450 hp). it's the best of both worlds.

I saw your are getting a set of S4 cams. These cams NEED a larger turbo, than a t25 or t28. I have a set and when i had a t3/t4 i could feel the cams take over at 5500 rpm. THat was with the .63 exhaust housing. If you want a nice turbo i would suggest that one.(t3/t4 50 trim compressor housing/.63 exhaust housing with a stage 3 wheel)With a ball bering center section, s4 cams and 50lb injectors and 3in exhaust, you should have full boost between 3000-3500, if not sooner. I had full boost a 3500(thrust bering center section) Just some info for you to ponder.

I think I'm gonna get an HKS GT2835 or the DP unless someone can convince me otherwise. are S4 too big for these turbos? what about S3's?

ITR Killr, if we havent convinced you yet to get a ball bearing t3/4e turbo, I dont know what to tell you. What are your goals for your ride? are you intending to autox or are you a dragger? if you're autox geared, go with the t28 or the gt28 series of turbos. but if you want to drag, I would definitely go with something bigger. the t28 is a good stock turbo, dont get me wrong, but it'll be crushed next to a t3. If you really wanna smoke the ITR (especially those running turbos), you're gonna need to play with the big boys, this means a t3/4e. I have ridden numerous turboed rides, t25's t28's even up to large t88 turboed cars, nothing is honestly better in both worlds than the hybrid. it provides rapid spool up (even w/o a ball bearing you'd hardly notice the turbo lag), and most importantly, it is a plain and simple ass kicker compressor.

so many turbos, so little time. andreas mentioned the GTBB3037 and i listen to what he says , but maybe a quick spoolin t3/t04 is what i need. I'll ask Andreas if he has one. it sucks to change your mind everyday

I did not mention the HKS GTBB3037. I mentioned the INCON GTBB37 which is way better than the HKS GT2835R, better than the BB D/P T28. Get the dam turbo you will not be disapointed.

I'll get the turbo, i just don't want to have to fab the I/C. if you would sell me an I/C already made to fit it i wouldn't even think of anything else. (please make me an I/C setup, pleease!!!!!)
I'll go with this turbo because andreas is the god of se-r
