Now a few months ago i was going though a magazine (SUPER STREET) and there was this section where it was talking about nitrogen and it is benifits and having more advantiges than regular air that you put into you tires eg: Better gas mileage,Longer tire life and it does not leak out of you tires like air so i was wondering if anyone else ever heard of this and know if you ever seen a nitrogen filler pump before at any gas or service station?

they do this at Crappy Tire here. You can tell because they put green valve stem caps on after.

The good thing is with the extreme changes in temperature we have, once you're tires are all set and not leaking, you don;t have to check your pressures at all. I guess the same goes for when you're rolling cold vs. hard and fast or on the highway.

oh yeah they don't have them at service stations, if you add air you will mess up the ratio and your tires wont stay constant pressure as much as before, I'd guess (umm all the same air is like 70+% nitrogen eh?)

But i like checking my tires so &%$^&$ nitrogen lol

yeah got nitrogen in my tires. got it while bought tires from store. its 5 dollars per tire. supposed to cool the tires down when ur running hard on the track or street. seems pretty good so far. also improve gas mileagae and al the goodies. but personally its not worth the 5 doallars. airs free and it works. unless u got the money and live close to a place that will refill it for you.

nitrogen is dry air, i'm thinking they do that so the inside of the tire doesnt oxidize?

Nitrogen is used because it's more stable across a variety of temperatures and is less likely to leak out. If you never check your tire pressure, then it's worth it. If you check your tire pressure more than once every couple of months, it probably won't matter

The dryness of nitrogen doesn't really matter. Who's running steel wheels?

Only place I see it being useful is on a racecar.
