I thought about getting a 200sx Se-r but I really can't find one. So I'm now thinking of getting a 200sx Se or a Honda Civic. I do alot of traveling in the city so decent gas mileage is a main factor, so not much modding other then suspension is going to happen. I was just curious on how slow they really are.

Thanks, keep safe and happy driving,
Sterling

keep lookin for an SE-R, they get relatively good gas mileage too, not to mention it will blow the doors off an SE in stock trim. it also has much more tuning potenial than an SE for the future. there are a lot of SE-R's on autotrader.com

If you're not going to be modding for power, then the se is okay I guess. I'd guess 0-60 in the 9's, maybe 10's, and the 1/4 in 17's, maybe 18's. I suppose it'd be about on par with like a 92-95 Civic EX.

If you are going to do any bolt-ons it will basically be a waste. I know because I have had one and my friend now has one with WAI,header, exhaust, flywheel and suspension and his car is very slow. If you get one just dont get into any engine mods because the GA16 doesn't repsond well to them. (IMO) JUst wait to find a SE-R, and maybe you have to go out of state tp buy one. That is how I have done my curent SE-R and my old 99 SE-L.

I agree, if you are going to be modding the car any, getting the SE is a waste. I have one with a WAI and 12* timing and it's fun, but I wouldn't call it fast. But as far as driving around town, to and from work etc, you should be quite pleased with it as it does have quite a bit of pep. BTW, I am selling mine. I want to get an S13 and drop in an SR20DET. Selling this car will get me the money I need to do this. PM me if you are interested in it.

Well I'm kind of limited on where I can get the car from. I need to be able to get rid of my Frontier. Also, there is only one Se-r for sale around me on autotrader.com Thanks anyways though.

Thanks again,
Sterling

I understand. It looks like there is a shortage of good SE-Rs around here also. Good luck!

Never drove one, so I have no clue.

Stepping down in HP for a daily-driver is not such a big deal but, considering the (IMHO) small diff in cost 'twixt the two versions new, it's hard to step back from the suspension, 15" alloys, LSD, rear discs, etc, you get with an SE-R.

Buying used, cost diff's and availability may peg the YMMV meter, though.

Hi, I have driven the 200se, I almost got one, till I saw the 200se-r,if you can't find a se-r, I would say get the se. You can aways swap in a sr20 later.......hehe good luck

I had a 95 200SX SE. The engine really isn't that bad. the suspension was a waste with the soft springs and the total lack of rear bar. I once saw a Road and Track where the basic 200sx (not the SE) was a 8.5 0-60 car. The car was light and therfore much quicker then the SE which is optioned out like a SE-R. My guess is 9.5-10.5 0-60 times with a stick. The GA16 does respond to mods. The owner of motivational has one with complete bolt ons and it will beat a lightly modded SE-R or Civic SI. He ran low 15's or maybe better. I still think you should buy my sr20de and tranny and stick it in a basic 200sx (non-se).

for a daily driver...great! you can't even compare the honda civic to a 200sx when it comes to quality. granted civics hold their value better, but it's not like you're looking to sell this daily car and make a profit down the road. i know you don't wanna do any engine mods, but if steve is willin' to help ya w/ a sr20 motor, i'd go that route. nothin' wrong w/ a stock sr20 daily driver!

of course we all know you'd bump up the timing! ;)
