I want to remove my intake manifold from the head of my DET. Is it difficult to do whislt the engine is in the car? actually difficulty doesnt phase me, is it possible is a better question.
What would I require to purchase to put it back on? Just a gasket?

Yeah, you can remove it from the engine while its in the car.
You will definitely need a intake - cylinder head gasket and, depending on what else you are going to take apart:
collector - intake gasket
EGR tube - intake gasket (if you have this)
throttle body gasket
Idle Air Control Valve assembly gasket

Why would i need a head gasket? I'm not removing the head, just the intake runners and TB and plenum off the head.. ? just wondering.
also, doesnt the air/idle control valve just unbolt from under the plenum?
Thanks, James

That's exactly what I meant: not cylinder head gasket but the gasket that goes between the intake manifold and the cylinder head.

Yes but there is a paper gasket in between.

umm are you sure? the air/idle control valve has a gasket? I dont think so, it just bolts under the plenum, it's just to keep it still, i dont think it has anything to do with gaskets, it has two hoses for its readings, etc.... errr am I missing something ?

You are confusing the Air Regulator, which bolts under the plenum, with the Idle Air Control Unit which has four bolts and mounts on the side of the plenum. There is no gasket associated with the Air Regulator but there is a gasket associated with the IACV unit. I know as I have a whole intake assembly sitting on my garage floor waiting to be installed in my new motor.

I actually have a spare air regulator and IACV sitting on my garage floor at home. I'll try and remember to bring the digital camera home from work and take a couple of pics. Send them to ya tonight.
