Newbie question:
I'm changing the plugs in my car tonight. The spark plug wrench I bought came with an extension (3") but it's not long enough to reach the plug and turn the wrench (because it hits the valve cover). Am I doing this right and just need to get a longer extension?
Thanks ;)

Just attach another extension.

Don't forget to anti-sieze the threads and put dielectric grease on the tops of the plugs.

The anti-seize compound and grease were going to be my next question. Sounds like it's essential....
Thanks guys.

I wouldn't say it's essential....
I've never done either of those and no one did at the Nissan dealership I used to work at. Never had a problem or heard of one on a Nissan. Still though, I guess it couldn't hurt.
What plugs are you going to run? NGKs?

Yeah, but thought I'd try the NGK G-Power platinum plugs ($4 Cdn) rather than the OEM plugs ($19.50 Cdn). They've gotta be better than the cheap Bosch plugs that came with the car when I bought it.
Just can't afford to throw that much cash at the car right now...

Wow, only $4 for NGK Platinum Plugs? That's cheap.

You could also use NGK copper's. They work just as good as platinum, but are only like $1.30 each. They won't last as long as platinum, but should last 25,000 miles or so.

Again, although I have posted on this on a previous thread:
There is NO WAY you will get NGK platinums for Cdn $4. You are getting copper NGKs. The OEM plugs ($19.50 Cdn) most probable ARE platinums.
Check the NGK part numbers.
What you get for $4 should be BKR6 something (copper).
What you get for $19.50 should be PFR6 something (plats).

Put the plugs in last night and they work great. I don't get the same 'bounce' in revs as I come to a stop that I did before and it seems to run smoother.
The plugs were $7.99 Cdn a pair (about $5 US) at 'Canadian Tire' - the biggest auto parts chain in Canada.
Here's a link to the plug on NGK's site:
NGK G-Power plugs (http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/products/cars_trucks_suvs/gpower.asp)
If they're not platinum then I don't know how they could sell them. I do know they're not the same as the OEM plugs which are actually 'Laser Platinums' and have platinum on both the ground and centre electrodes (as opposed to just the centre).
But yes, you're right, they do start with BKR6E.
