: Clutch Problems
omaritech 11-23-2007, 01:14 PM Has anyone ever broken their through out bearing fork? Mine broke yesterday on my way home. Mechanic said it was because of the aftermarket pressure plate that was in the car.
Have in a JWT prerssure plate and clutch, pressure plate was extremely hard, always breaking clutch cables, so eventually the fork gave up.
Anyway, i have put in a standard pressure plate with the JWT clutch, but you can feel the clutch slipping especially when you get in high RPM, just not putting down the power.
Can anyone recommend a decent pressure plate that can still be a good everyday driver especially in traffic and still be good enough to handle SR20VE power and take to the track.
Also not have your left leg bigger than your right.
My clutchnet is soft as warm butter and holds all my turbo tq, but I would not recommend the clutchnet disks, just the PP.
Were you using a Genuine Nissan OEM clutch cable, or a generic aftermarket one?

NIt2WinIt 11-26-2007, 11:09 AM I just recently had some serious clutch issues, in which it was defective and a spring popped out and did a blender action on my flywheel and pressure plate (JGY 6-puck sprung). Anyhow check out a dual disc. They are a bit pricey but, I hear they are worth it. Whenever it is time to give up the 4-puck I now have, I'm going for the dual disc. I hope this helps.
P.S. Be sure to resurface your flywheel or replace it (whichever you prefer). It is relatively inexpensive to resurface a flywheel but, extremely valuable to the life of your clutch. '91 Turbo SE-R (SR20DE)

always stick with those:biggthump
nudebeach19 11-26-2007, 01:21 PM Yep, had this happen to me a few weeks ago. I had an ACT extreme pressure plate in and it started to go and then everything else went. Broke the clutch fork, literally broke half of it off. I'm currently using a competition stage 2 clutch kit. I absolutely love it, it shifts like butter and I have absolutely no slipping going on whatsoever.

I do like those pressure plates too, but IIRC, some people have had trouble with the disks.
sonny 11-26-2007, 01:45 PM Is the clutch fork easy to replace? I have a clutchnet, the pedal is moderately stiff, and I do quite a bit of city driving, so it is a concern.

my clutchnet is very light and smooth. Do you have a Genuine Nissan clutch cable?

2.0L specific ordered through GregV... pretty sure it is. :squint:
It is a 50% over stock clutch/PP though, I think this (http://www.clutchnet.com/product.php?productid=19798&cat=0&page=1) one.
