Recently my car is not accelerating as hard as it used to. My friend told me that my lack of power can be do to the clutch slipping. Is his theory correct? I thought a slipping clutch will only effect shifting and launching but not when the clutch is hooked up. He told me that the clutch slips especially at high rpm that's why I'm not laying maximum power to the ground.

How true, my clutch slips hard in every gear when it's really hot. It's a biznitch. But unless your a retard like me, you should be able to tell if it's slipping or not.

yeah, u will know if its slipping or not. Your engine speed will increase but your car doesnt.

sometimes when i shift hard my car stays at a higher rpm and slowly goes down to where it is supposed to be rather than the normal rpm fall of a shift.... is this signs of my clutch slipping?

Well, either you foot is still on the pedal, or your clutch is slipping. I would go fo the later of the two. :D

but I only got 20k on my car. How long does the stock clutch last?
Which aftermarket clutch is good and how much does it cost?

When I leased a '92 SE-R, back in 92, the stock clutch lasted about 10k miles. (I learned to drive a 5spd with that car).
My JWT PP / stock disc combo has lasted 3 years and about 30k miles.

It could also mean that the clutch is glazed from you beating on it constantly. You know when its dead when you cant drive on it at all and it just revs to 7k in 3rd and your only going 20mph.

I think the amount of time the clutch lasts is going to depend on what kind of a driver you are, whether you are good at driving a 5spd or not and how much of a pounding it takes at the track or even some of you street racing dudes. I just changed my stock clutch at 93k on my nx. The clutch was quite heavy when i bought the car 30k miles ago. But recently it just started slipping. Now it feels great and it actually does feel like the car moves better.

My stock clutch has 66,750 miles on it. I Turboed my car at 66,000 miles.
Note to self: Stock clutch with turbo = no clutch fast. :D
