Well I've had my custom-built, NA, brand new motor sitting in the shop at my job since the end of last year, got my ported/polished intake manifold around March and have been waiting since April 11 for my reprogrammed JWT ECU. It finally arrived yesterday. Now I can start scheduling the installation of my engine within the next month.

Engine details: custom-built by Dan Paramore of DPR Racing in CA. 11.3:1 high compression, JWT forged aluminum pistons, JWT installed piston oil squirters, Swain coatings on pistons and valves, JWT C2 cam set, custom valves, DPR Stage V cylinder head, ported/polished intake manifold w/ overbored throttle body, entire engine balanced and blueprinted.

Other goodies waiting in my garage to be installed at the same time: Clutch Specialties 2,000 PP w/ Stage II organic disc (replacing ACT HD PP w/ street disc), Koyo aluminum radiator w/ Swain Black Body Emitter coating, Evans NPG+ Waterless Coolant, silicone radiator hoses, JGY Customs-built tranny w/ cryotreated gears and Quaife LSD, Hotshot Gen. 5 header (replacing AEBS), MSD Digital 6 Ignition and Blaster SS coil, Autometer oil pressure + water temperature + A/F ratio gauges, new mandrel bent 2.5" exhaust w/ Dynomax Ultraflow muffler (replacing Borla).

This is on top of all the other bolt-ons I already have: UR 4-pulley set, Place Racing CAI, Fidanza aluminum flywheel.

After I get everything installed and enjoy the motor for a little bit, I'll be adding a direct port, progressively controlled 100 shot nitrous kit.

I'll keep the list posted of impressions, etc. Hopefully I won't have to post problems but I'm sure there will be some.

I am a very jealous guy. That is going to be a badass setup. I ordered my ECU 4 weeks ago and still haven't got it. Also most people would be scared using a 100 shot on 11.3:1 motor, but I have always thought that the shot and c/r didn't matter as much as how often you use it. Good luck.

With the swain coatings and I assume titanium valve springs, he won't have any trouble, the fact that he is going with the jwt nitrous system makes it even better and safer.

I though he said progressive not jwt. I really like the progressive systems, in the fact that you don't have a 100 hp jolt. Its like a smooth transaction. They cost alot of money but it looks like he has it.

Swain coatings- yes
titanium valve springs- yes
JWT nitrous kit- no

My goal in having the engine built was to reliably withstand up to a 100 shot on 93 octane super pump gas. Thats why I had all the Swain coatings done, some quench pad stuff done, why I upgraded the radiator and coated it with Swain stuff and am using Evans coolant. All in the name of keeping temperatures and hopefully detonation manageable.

From what I've been told by the "gurus", a 50-75 shot should be fine but a 100 shot might give problems. I'm looking into a water injection setup as a backup. I'll start small and work my way up and see what happens.

Right, forgot to clarify that in my last post. No JWT nitrous. A direct port, wet, progressive setup. Yeah, it will cost a lot but I've come to the conclusion that this is my last hurrah for this car and I wanted to do something different and hopefully be successful. Also have to use the spare cash now before me and the wife have a child.

I wish I could afford to do that to my NX.

I understand that, I am using my spare cash now before I have to go out and start the repayment of my 6 years of student loans, though since I am in the national guard I have considerably less loans than most of my friends.

Damn, Steve. That is awesome!!! I'm sure your time and effort will pay off. Good luck and break her in carefully. What about guages?

Thanks. I sure paid the price though. I have already got three gauges, a/f- oil pressure- water temperature waiting to be installed. I'm also going to get a fuel pressure gauge.

It will definietly be a good toy. Fun runs with mustangs and stuff cause there is no turbo to scare them away. My buddy has a DET swap and the sound of the turbo and blow off turns them away, they don't even want to touch him. That will be a nice car and it will push some horsepower also. Don't forget about us when you Dyno that thing and post the numbers.

I just set the engine install date with two of my mechanic friends for August 10th. I'll be taking off work on the 9th to do all the prep work i.e. draining fluids, taking pics, labeling, disconnecting everything, etc. and then we'll do the actual swap on the 10th.

I'll run it a little bit and do a dyno run probably in late Fall.

Brent hehe Now that's my motivation for getting a DET swap. Welcome the V8's.

You know it man! A carefully installed and hidden nitrous kit can lure them in though.

good shít, im doing a similar setup except with mostly stock internals, only internal upgrades will be the valve train, i plan on running C3 cams
maybe we can have a friendly battle when fall comes around
