: suspension opinions
tommyJ 07-16-2002, 12:29 PM Im about to get agx's for my 98 se-r, but what kind of springs do you all recommend? At first, I was swaying towards the pro-kit (hearing that agx's + prokit = great handling), but I also heard good stuff about Progressive springs (1.7 drop) Any suggestions, pics, etc?
97 Black SER 07-16-2002, 02:23 PM Ground Control Coilovers.
Crono1321 07-16-2002, 03:06 PM H&R springs. They drop 1.7 I believe. They give an awesome ride too.

The regular lowering springs cause excessive bottoming when driven hard. GC 300/200 is the best option for lowering the car without bottoming. I know on my car (98 Sentra SE, same suspension as you) that I could not lower my car more then about an 1.25 inch's with these springs without it bottoming out in the rough stuff. Regular lowering springs are not near as firm as the 300/200 I have.
Se-rDriver 07-20-2002, 01:10 AM I hear alot about coilovers and how good they lower the car and all. But are they really good? I heard they ruin the suspension on your car? Any truth to this? Would love to hear some imput.
Thanks

DubuRX 07-20-2002, 07:51 AM Other than the fact that coilover springs are smaller than normal springs, you shouldn't have a problem if you match them up with the right struts/shocks...

They are good as long as you get high quality coilovers and not some 150 dollar LO-Boyz or something like that.
Se-rDriver 07-21-2002, 10:31 AM Well I am caught in a dilemma. I want to buy coilovers or Rims. I was lookin at some Enkei RSE's or the Ground Control Coilovers. ANy opinions? I was going for 17's, which someone told me might rub, but I dont think they would. Thanks for the help,
Se-rDriver
spdracerUT 07-22-2002, 01:22 AM se-r, I guess ask yourself this: do you want to handle well and go fast around turns? or look pretty?
And if you get new springs (stiffer), you better get some new dampers too!

ITR_KILLR 07-22-2002, 01:49 AM how well would a sportline/AGX combo work, i already have sportlines and i would like to keep the drop w/o buying coilovers
OnyxEros 07-22-2002, 11:49 AM H&R SPRINGS
H&R SPRINGS
Am i making myself clear????
Jun and bf goodridge got well over 1g with the proper suspension set up and 205/50/15's.
What does that mean??? it means that unless you are going for looks with your bigger wheels you can get all the performance you need with 15's and a good suspension set up. if you have the money do coil overs but if you can't afford them and a just looking for springs go with H&R SPRINGS i got my agx at 3F and 6R on the street and i have NEVER bottomed out and i ride almost as low as sportlines.
If you would like my further endorsement pm me

98SERwTricks 07-22-2002, 12:01 PM Our cars DO NOT have good suspension travel. Period. Lowering more than 1.25" will make our cars bottom out. Period. I think a lowering spring with a 1" drop would be tight. I would recommend (or at least this is my plan) some Motivational Rear Strut Mounts for better rear suspension travel. I have bottomed out the rear with stock struts and springs!
OnyxEros 07-22-2002, 01:41 PM just wondering what did you do to bottom out the stock suspension?????
i don't think i have any roads like that in ohio or NC

llaprad1 07-22-2002, 01:49 PM I've got the first run of Hypercoils with AGXs and I have never bottomed out.
I retained the stock soft 91 bumpstops and didnt cut them.
I love it.
Se-Racer 07-23-2002, 01:42 PM screw the rims and get the motivationals;)
I have the GC/AGX/Motivational mounts on my 96 SE-R and I absolutely hate it. I have broken two tophats in the rear, the front rattle like hell event though I ued the duct-tape and silicone method, and I have to fix the damn front tophats so they are centered every time I jack up the car. If I had to do it all over again, Id go H&R springs with Koni adjustables. Or a full tien or other type of full-coilover system.
Se-rDriver 07-24-2002, 02:27 AM Alot of the suspension stuff seems confusing, so I have decided on buying the rims. I have new shocks, and the Eibach Pro-kit so I think that should do fine. I really like these rims: Enkei RSE
I wanted the RF-1's but alot o companies dont carry them.
ANy other rims out there that look good on the SE-R? Pics woulh help. Thanks again-
