That sounds like a timing chain slapping sound. Also it "might" be valve clatter. Another thing it might be is Rod knock but i will not go there since its so hard to really tell over the audio. more than likely timing chain noise. is that when the car is warming up? What weight oil are using as well?

Dude, that is the exact rattle I have been hearing. I haven't been able to figure it out. I am going to change the timing chain tenshioner and gasket and see if that helps it. I am also going to go to 10w30 instead of 5w30 mobile one in case if it valve clatter or something like that.

After listening to the audio I would guess maybe tensioner.
I wish you had revved it a couple of times...thats when my rod knock showed up on mine.

the noise occurs at all times, cold or warm.. it doesn't change when revved either..
i'll be changing the oil soon anyway, guess i'll try something a little thicker.

Wouldn't the thicker oil create more valve clatter and whatnot on startup?

Thicker oil will cause more clatter at start up. Once the oil reaches the proper tempature it will be ok. Although his valvetrain nois is ongoing it prolly wont matter. Once he changes the tensioner he can start narrowing down the prob if thats not it. I had similiar issues with the hydraulic lifters not pumping up until getting over 160 degree water temps making same noise with a new tensioner i tried 5-30 10-40 15-40 15-50 oils . Nothing helped so i just left it alone . I have been driving it like that for over two years no probs.
