So i finally got my girlfriends P10 out. She broke down today. From what I am told it stalled. She drifted to the side and started it again, ran for about 3 seconds oil light came on and it stalled again. She called AAA. There was [from what my friend said] about 3 quarts of oil on the ground. i got off work and got the car up in the air. There was a bad leak from the front main seal but an even worse leak from where the oil pan drain plug should have been. No plug. Plugged it put oil in it, tried to start it and it would start. Pulled the plugs and it was flooded [turns out that the AAA guy cranked it at least 5 times, after seeing 3 quarts on the ground mind you]. Let it air out. Started it and it ran real rough for maybe 2 seconds then it dies.

Something in the head seized? Any thoughts. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

the bearings are probably toast.

x2 on the bearings. Our engines are so sensitive to oil pressure it's not funny. Even if you get it running well now, I wouldn't be surprised to hear of some rod knock/thrown rod in the near future.

I seem to recall a very similar thing happen to a GA16DE engine that I had in the N15 Almera a couple of years ago.

Basically - power seemed rather lumpy during hard revving or caning the car, so in the end, I did a full engine service... problem still persisted, under load the car would make little tinkering noises from the bottom end, the shells where frazzed so we had these replaced by a local garage - wasnt cheap...

Car ran fine for about 3 - 4 months, then i got a driving ban and had to retake my test, in this period we kept the car in a driveway.

Passed my test again, got insured, flew home as quick as possible - checked the oil, water, petrol and changed over the battery - cranked up the car and let it idle for about 20min without revving it, took it round the block and it seemed fine, just some scrubbing from the brakes but this died off once theyd been used a little and the surface come clean again, anyways - got home that night, parked up the car - then the next morning a pool of oil dribbling down the street...

The sump had rotted and cracked, not sure why as the car wasnt started once stood... anyways, i had a new sump fitted, all went well - then two / three weeks later - knocking noises again, then a shed load of oil on the floor - the car was problematic once the first repair had took place - in the end we scrapped the car, it was costing too much and off the road more than it was on the road (p.s engine only had 80 odd K on it too)

Seems a problem with Nissan's - i had a vauxhall that was off the road for over a year and started first time with no problems AND it still runs now!

I was thinking bearing too. Unless I can find a motor cheap, we will be selling the car

most likely its due to the lack of oil pressure. recheck the seals again. could be the bearings

Damn that sucks Nick. I wonder how the oil drain plug could have fallen out? Was it changed at any jiffy-lube type places lately?

What year is this one? Is it knocking bad?

i have no idea how it came out. I changed the oil monday and put the plug back in with a 24" breaker [over kill, but its what i used to take it out.]

its a 93, knocking real bad,

You should pull the oil pans and see if the crank is still usable. If its not all chewed up then try some new rod bearings.

I was changing the oil on my SE-R yesterday and noticed a bunch of gear lube on the bottom of my tranny. I suspect I cracked the case when I went to PRP last month as I got some pretty good hop on one run. Oh well at least I pulled a 13.3 lol.

The only issue is i really don't have time. School full-time and 3 jobs, plus im still trying to get the G20 out, and keeping the sentra just drivable. Thinking about picking up my friends B14 GXE.

im sure you didnt tighten that bolt all the way down there is no way that bolt should come out unless you over tighten it and the threads became weak or you didnt tighten the bolt at all.. this happen to my dads altima.. dealership didnt tighten the bolt all the way after it had its oil change.. we all went out to the movies and my friend told me that the car was smoking and that his window kept getting these brown droplets on his window.. (he was driving behind us) we did hear a loud clunk but i didnt think nuthing of it.. we pulled over n e ways in a parking lot and a pool of oil started under the car.....
