hey guys i have a problem with my exhaust gas temp. i had my engine washed with pressurized water. dont think they were able to cover all my electricals under my hood. now my gauge is autometer and reads around 700 degrees farenheit at shifting at 3500rpm. when i drive faster shifting at 4500rpm or more it reads about 900 to 1000 degrees. but my gauge doesnt hit zero when i turn off the car, it only drops to 200. when i check under the hood it feels really hot compared to before. i tried adjusting my fuel reg higher to see if im too lean but that didnt help much. whats the maxium temperture i can run without destroying my engine and parts? is 1000 degrees already damaging stuff? let me know what u think? thanks.

Anything above 1500F is pushing it. On track, this is close to what I run at WOT on the straights.

I don't think you have anything to worry about, but I wouldn't go just increasing the fuel pressure, unless you have a wideband and know how the car is reacting to increasing/decreasing the fuel pressure. I would assume that you have a wideband?

Aside from all of that, the EGT's being to high lead to detonation, which you would be able to hear, as well as getting a CEL for knock.

thanks. ill make sure it doesnt hit 1500. do u think my gauge could be broken? how do i check it? what do u think could cause high exhaust temps?

i dont have a wideband. plan on getting a safc or emanage soon. do u think my gauge could be broken? how do i check it? what do u think could cause high exhaust temps? thanks bro.

what kind of intercooler do you have. if it is a cheapy that could contribute, like the big (made in china) ebay cores that have lots of pressure drop.

really i don't think you have too much to worry about, it seems like it is just the nature of gas turbo cars

Dumb question, but what was it before?

You have to keep in mind that the Autometer probe is huge and slow as crap. Also, you need to realize that EGT doesn't mean anything unless you have wideband to back it up. People think that low egt means they are running rich, and high means they are running lean. The fact of the matter is that if you go lean enough, your egt's start going down. If your mixture is on, and your EGT's are still messed up, you wanna look at your timing. A little adjustment either way will change your egt's.

I realize that's not what you're asking exactly, just thought I'd throw that in there for general enlightenment! :biggthump :biggthump

Dumb question, but what was it before?

it was at 350 to 400 with regular driving. then when i speed up its around 600 to 700.

i think my timing is a little advanced and what i know is that turbo engines should run retarded. ill have it checked. thanks.
