Like the title says, HKs updated their new catalog and it list every part available for the SR20 now. Albeit a little overpriced but not their cams! Check out the page, http://www.hksusa.com/info/?id=1606

I saw that they got a lot of new parts also. I noticed that they now have one of those things that go over the spark plugs...like the ones on honda's. Do you know what I'm talking about? What are those called, I forgot. I want to get one I saw it in the new super street, and it was carbon fiber! I think it says HKS on it.

Are you talking about a direct spark ignition system? It's like a little coil pack over each spark plug. I think Split Fire makes a set for the S14 and S15 det's but i'm not sure about anyother application. Is this the same thing ur talkin about?

Yes I am talking about "spark plug wire covers." It is like a clip or something that goes over the "ditch" in the middle of the valve cover where each plug/wire goes to. This makes it look completely square, and just an opening on the side that allows the wires to get in.

______________
_________Nissan
This is the ditch
_______________
__________Twin Cam

I know thats a horrid illustration of a valve cover but I hope it helps to better explain. Of course the words are corresponding to their position on the valve cover. Basically the clip that covers the plugs/wires.

i would love the hks cams . theres only one issue i believe the dowel pin is on the opposite side due to the rwd application or it might have to be machined off. correct me if iam wrong. i know the jwt cams for the se-r had to be tweaked to fit on my friends s14 motor.

These cams are all for RWD SR20's, notice the codes, RPS13 - PS13 - S14 - S15.

I can't figure out their pricing or model designations.

Each cam is listed under Step 1, 2 and 3 with different prices. For instance, what's the difference between these?

2202-RN086 CAM SHAFT STEP 1 264 INTAKE RPS13 - PS13 $220.00

2202-RN091 CAM SHAFT STEP 2 264 INTAKE RPS13 - PS13 $210.00

2202-RN096 CAM SHAFT STEP 3 264 INTAKE RPS13 - PS13 $185.00

Im not familiar with what your friend had to do but I checked the japanese Hks website. They listed the cams for SR motors and used, SR20DE(T). Which you would think signifies that the fwd SR20 shouldnt have a problems. Also since the S13 came in the form of a DE also.
The page also listed the drop from 34000 yen to 23000 yen for all the steps, which might be why its so cheap. As for the step its in terms of lift, the *** site shows: Step 1 As 10.5 lift; Stage 2 and 3 as 11.5-12.0.

So thats good to know. But do they have anymore info because i dont see any applications for blubird det's which would be the cams we would need other than the gti-r motor which is mechanical. I will ask my friend see what issues he had with swapping fwd cams into his s14.

I'm looking at a pic of the "spark plug wire cover right now. If anyone can help me host this pic I'll scan it and send it to you. I can't just like "copy/paste" this pic on here right?

The distributor drive is different on the rwd version. http://www.todaracing.com/eng%20SR20N2.gif Notice the placement of the distributor.

That is true but the part numbers are the same. I did another check to see if the parts would fit by checking www.hkseurope.com and the numbers are the same for both the Primera and the Hks part numbers they listed for the SR20Det. If thats not enough than I dont know what is. Especially when it should cost about $400 the most maybe even $350 from some store that isnt trying to rip you off for the set.

Louis at apex has been selling the hks cams for a little while. He says they are great quality. Have any of you been to www.todaracing.com They got some sick cams all for the sr20de(t). Id assume that they can fit in our sr's and will most likely be going with the 272 profile n/a unless someone tells me it's a horrible idea for an unboosted car.

Just to clarify a point here.

The RWD and FWD cams are exactly the same and they are interchangeable, no problem. The only thing that is different from an OEM FWD cam and an OEM RWD cam is the length of the dowel pin on the exhaust cam.

The FWD OEM cams (intake and exhaust) both use short dowel pins). The RWD OEM intake cam uses a short dowel pin and the exhaust cam uses a long dowel pin. This long pin is there to engage the crank angle sensor/distributor drive gear.

So, all you need to do use FWD cams in a RWD SR20 is to remove the long dowel pin from the OEM exhaust cam and install it into the FWD exhaust cam. Done.

Any machine shop that resurfaces flywheels can do this. It requires the same tool that they use to remove the dowel pins from flywheels. It is a slide hammer.

I installed a set of JWT S3 cams in my customer's RWD S13 Silvia red top just recently.

Great info Jay! AKH Trading told me the toda cams would work in the front drives. But, They could not elaborate as to how.

Onyx, Be prepared for a wait. I ordered a set of the 264* cams and waited 3 months before cancelling my order and getting some JWT cams.
